  1. Hi, I'm really excited to join the Affinity community! I''ve been a Photoshop user for quite some time and have developed some habits I'd like to replicate in Affinity if possible. I've listed some of them below. Hopefully it's not too overwhelming... - I like the ALT+RMB shortcut so resize the brush in PS (left/right) AND adjust the pressure (up/down). Can it be setup in the preferences? - I can't seem to find a file size in the export Persona: did I miss it? I like the CTRL+Z unlimited undo: is it really unlimited or is there a max number of undo steps? That would be all for now I guess! Thanks a lot for reading until now! Have a nice day! Nicolas
  2. I've always had my own custom keyboard shortcuts and now changing over to Affinity Photo (on Windows10) I'm trying to create the same here. I know how to add a custom keyboard shortcut but run into some difficulties and need help: I started by clicking "Clear All Shortcuts" to make sure I start building my shortcut system from scratch. However numeric keys for example still keep their old function: even if I assign a new command to a numeric key, when I press it keeps setting opacity (a function I do not need shortcut for). My questions: 1. Is there a way I can assign my own functions to the numeric keys? In GIMP I could even assign separate shortcuts for 0-9 keys and NumLock 1-9 keys on the right end of the keyboard. 2. Can *all* keys be customized or are there some that I can not assign my chosen function to? 3. Can I find advanced help/tutorials about customizing shortcuts? For example: how does toggle/cycle work? Thank You, Booth
  3. Hi everyone, I'd like to share with you a drawing I made that looks like a Windows keyboard. Some notes: I don't know exactly which tools are available to which personas, so please help me here. I'd appreciate very much if you posted it back with corrections. I use the Brazilian keyboard layout, but it's pretty easy to edit it to whatever you like (US, AZERTY, etc.) and upload it here. I made vector artwork for several missing tools. There are still some Pixel tools to do (smudge, blur, sharpen). There are layers for the Pixel persona, the Slice persona, and the Text tool. Just make them visible. I've color-coded the modifier keys in a different fashion than Affinity's original coding. Several shortcuts are changed. I'd love it if someone posted the original ones in place. There are symbols for the keys and a palette with global colors. I hope any of you find it useful! Windows Keyboard 4.afdesign
  4. AD fam, On many of the AD tutorials I see a click/drag operation used to select an item you want to isolate for copy/paste purposes. My question, is the click/drag done while holding down a keyboard key (i.e., the 'alt' or 'command' key)? When I click/drag over a given area that I'm trying to cut out, I see the light blue square/rectangle cover said area...but when I release my finger from the mouse it seems I'm unable to 'capture' (copy) the selection. I know I'm missing something simple - please have mercy on me. Thanks in advance. -Christo
  5. Hi I am using Affinity Photo in German mainly just because I also have a German keyboard, what I can't find anywhere are a list/overview of all the shortcuts for a German keyboard AND for the Windows version! Can any one help me out?
  6. Hi All, was wondering if I can now ditch the separate shortcut files for the separate apps now? I have three files, AffinityShortcut.affshortcuts AffinityPhotoShortcut.affshortcuts AffinityDesignerShortcut.affshortcuts ...Assuming that I am happy with my current shortcuts in either of the apps, am I able to save over just the AffinityShortcut.affshortcuts and delete the other two, and in future only update the single file? I seem to half remember that the apps originally had separate shortcut files but have since been merged, making the two individual files redundant? Just wanted to double check before I hit the Delete button! Thanks Wayne
  7. On a lot of tools, the sliders are hard to control with a mouse - for example, on the Exposure Adjustment layer control, the slightest mouse movement causes a large change. It would be very helpful if the keyboard arrow keys (either up/down or left/right) were available to give finer control over sliders. I'd suggest that ANY slider should be controllable with the arrow keys, as in a lot of programs. Sorry if this has been requested before or is in the works. :)
  8. Hi, On a German keyboard, the default keys for changing brush size are not usable; keys '[' and ']' must be entered by pressing Alt+5 and Alt+6. Therefore, I redefined the keys to use '<' and '>' instead which works fine, but only for brushes. I cannot use them to resize the tool size in the liquify perspective nor for brush overlays in the HDR perspective. I think they should work everywhere where I want to increase and decrease a tool size while working. Furthermore in the preferences dialog, I think, the setting should not be placed under paint brush but in a more common (generic) category.
  9. It would be nice to have keyboard shorcuts for hardness, similar to the ones for opacity. E.g., Alt-5 sets the hardness to 50%, Alt-52 to 52%.
  10. Hi! This suggestion is mostly for Affinity Designer, but I suppose some of this could be translated to Photo too? When I'm placing an anchor point or object holding down the spacebar will allow me to move the said point or object, this is great. However, while editing these points or objects pressing the spacebar no longer does anything. Here's a simple example, start rotating any existing rectangle, you can't press the spacebar to move it while also rotating. Would be a big time saver to have the spacebar shortcut working during edits too. Thanks!
  11. Hi! A couple of suggestions for the keyboard shortcuts, this is for both Affinity Designer and Photo Activate the Zoom tool with Ctrl + Spacebar (key press order matters here)Currently pressing Spacebar + Ctrl will activate the zoom, but the inverse key combination will not. I often press these two keys together very fast and I can't reliably activate the Zoom tool. Zoom tool shortcut as jump keyZoom tool should be temporarily activated when you hold down the tool shortcut (the z key), once you let go the previous used tool should be selected again (see how Photoshop does it). It should also be possible to quickly switch to the Move tool by holding down the spacebar key. Thanks!
  12. By default the number keys set opacity - which is fine. BUT AD doesn't distinguish between the standard numbers and the numeric keypad, to which I'd really like to assign a bunch of other shortcuts. With 15 keys on the numpad, and at least 3 different modifiers, there are >45 keyboard shortcuts going to waste here! Also, under the current system, if I do set a numeric keypad numeral as a shortcut, it doesn't warn me that there is an existing clash with the opacity function... worst of both worlds! Thanks for your consideration.
  13. Please could the Preferences search box also search the Keyboard Shortcuts? At present if I am trying to find an action to check / alter the Keyboard Shortcut I have to know where that shortcut resides. If I don't (and I may not even know whether a shortcut can be assigned to a given action) then I have to trawl through the whole list. Even better - filter the shortcuts by the search term to remove all the options that I don't want to see. Case in point: I'd like to find whether I can assign a shortcut to Show Rotation Centre, and have gone cross eyed looking for the option! Thanks.
  14. Hello together, first of all, thank you very much for your magnificent software, I'm working with the Beta for Windows now some days and it's very fun to do so. Nontheless I have a question regarding the Marquee pixel selection tools (e.g. elliptical marquee and rectangular marquee tool) and their modifier keys. I have consulted the help and found there are only two modifier keys, one which constrains the proportions (Shift) and on modifier key the removes ares from the current selection (Alt) and the possibility to drag with both left and right mouse button down) to add to a selection. I would ask if it is possible to add some more (from my personal experience) very useful modifier keys which would make it way easier to select circular shapes. A modifier key to draw the marquees from the center point rather than from the egde where the click at the begin occurred, for example holding the (Strg) key or another suitable one down Another modifier key I find very useful is, e.g. holding the (spacebar) key down to move the selection on the fly while it is still being drawn holding the mouse key down These are just some things I find really useful that make with selection these tools much easier to work with, I'm quite accustomed to such key modifiers as they are available in Photoshop CC. Thank you again and a wonderful week ahead. Kindest regards from Germany, Robert Christian Strasser
  15. I find the UI in Affinity needs work. For instance, when pull up the "Soft Proof" dialogue and can flip through previews of the various settings, but I have to click each one, instead of being able to up and down arrow through them. That's very time-consuming and unnecessary. The same thing applies to the crop tool in Photo, where you can see a preview of the cut, but you cannot fine-tune adjust it's placement with the keyboard. I would like to be able to "nudge" the box where I need to.
  16. Hi Folks Is there any way to assign the same keys for decreasing and increasing brush size for all tools in the photo persona? I'm aware I can assign them the same keys for each persona, but by the looks of it EVERY tool in the photo persone has it's own and different brush size setting ... aside the fact thats it's a nightmare to assign the same functionality to all tools it seems some of them do not seem to remember the assigned keystroke. I was trying to assign "w" to increasing brush size but it keeps on selecting the area selection tool when pressing the "w" key - despite the fact in the keyboard shortcut setting a "w" is assigend. Cheers, Timo
  17. After assigning new commands to keyboard shortcuts and saving them in a file, the new functionallity is not taken over within the program. After restarting APW it works short time and than is forgotten again ... In this case I assigned brush size down to the "Q" key and size up to the "W" key ... Known problem? Beste regards, DarkClown
  18. Photoshop has a pretty elegant and consistent solution for modifier key usage in a majority of their tools: shift to constrain ratio, alt to modify around centre / origin, ctrl to modify specific points, warp selections etc. also with sensible default options for snapping and edge magnetism None of this seems to be a default or perhaps even possible thing in Affinity Photo as far as I can tell? For example, using the crop tool in Photoshop, it magnetises to the edges of the canvas and allows for the aforementioned modifier keys to constrain as described. Such a thing in Affinity seems like a chore and if the potential to do this is there and I just haven't found it, then it should be a default regardless in my opinion. Thoughts?
  19. I'd like to see support added for SHIFT+DEL, CTRL+INS, SHIFT+INS shortcuts for cut / copy / paste, as is standard across many Windows applications. This is in addition to the existing CTRL+X, CTRL+C, CTRL+V shortcuts that already exist. Currently it's only possible to reassign the existing shortcuts rather than add additional ones, and it isn't possible to assign SHIFT+DEL. My earlier comments and related discussion on this topic here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/22639-affinity-designer-public-beta-1507-windows/?p=107136
  20. Hi, First of all you've done a great work with the software. It's realy great tool to work with. I like it even more than Illustrator. Thank you. So the problem is that after last update I can't type or use shortcuts. Before update it was OK. Here is specs of my laptope if it helps. Intel Core i7-6700HQ (2.6GHz, TB 3.5GHz, HyperThreading); grafika NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB; 16GB RAM DDR4; 256GB SSD a 1TB HDD;
  21. With the numeric keyboard only, the shortcut for zooming in does not work. Zooming out is good. I'm using a Logitech wireless K800 keyboard, if that helps. I like the program so far.
  22. Hello Affinity Team sadly there is a high number of shortcuts which are not internationally compatible with the UK keyboard. It would be good if,for ease of learning, the shortcuts where chosen to be internationally compatible. UK-Keyboard German keyboard this is an ongoing keylist of incompatibilities with the german keyboard; Size bigger Ctrl+> <- only works with ctrl+shift+> Size Smaller Ctrl+< <- doesn´t work at all Size Precice Bigger <-only works with ctrl+alt+shift+> Size Precise Smaller <-doesnt work at all Spacing tighten More Ctrl+Alt+Left <- seems to move to the beginning of text Spacing Loosen More Ctrl+Alt+right <- seems to move to the end of text Alignment Align Left Ctrl+{ <-doesn´t work Alignment Align Centre Alt+|<- doesnt work Alignment Align Right Ctrl+} <- doesn´t work Alignment Justify Left ctrl+alt+| <-doesn´t work
  23. Hello again, its a similar problem https://github.com/atom/atom/issues/1625 international keyboards and altgr key is little problematic, cant write @ - | and some ascii characters with Turkish keyboard. DxDiag.txt
  24. Hi All, I was just setting up Astropad for use with AF, but have somehow managed to change my brush cursor to a cross hair, which is instantly annoying! I think Photoshop used to have a keyboard shortcut, like tild key or something that would change the cursor for the brush? Is there a key for changing brush cursors, or a setting somewhere? Or have I imagined the whole thing and it's been a cross hair the whole time?? Thanks Wayne
  25. When using the up and down arrow keys for fine tuning exposure the increments are Full Stops of exposure. For fine tuning it would be great to add more control and make the increments a 1/3rd of a stop or smaller. Using the scrubby control works great but having keyboard control would be a great addition. The other controls in the Develop Persona have really fine increments when using the up and down arrow keys - just not exposure :( Thanks for listening.. MK
