Text usage is very slow. If I use a text frame, after less than a paragraph it starts to slow down -- I type in text and it takes a moment or two to show up on the screen. It gets slower as I integrate more text. Slightly worse with artistic text. Affinity Designer Version: 1.8.3.641 (recent install) OS: Windows 10 [10.0.18363.778] Video card: Radeon RX 570 (in case it helps) OS was recently installed, with minimal number of fonts installed. Same issue even on a clean boot with no other applications running. Strange: I have a dual-screen setup -- when I use the second screen for the dockers (I would like to have this setup) the problem is MUCH worse. Note my main screen is landscape and my second screen is portrait orientation. This is not very much text. I realize for many pages of text this would be the wrong application and that might be an issue but this is just a few paragraphs, that might appear on any number of flyers, info sheets, etc. Any ideas are much appreciated!

Please add an option to increase font size in the gui,the default is tiny and for people like me with eye problems it's very hard to read. Isn't there a requirement to make software fully accessible? If there is , surely text size would be an issue? I was very disappointed when I opened the software for the first time , if I'd known this it would have influenced my purchase...............thanks

Hi, I want to report this bug: When I have more opened windows and in one of this I click on text for edit, when I click letter automatically the app open other window and I can't continue insert text. You can see in action on attached video example. Is it a bug or a problem on my installed fonts? Thanks affinity_font.mov

Hi, in Affinity Publisher, when I export the document to PDF, text is displaying as gibberish (see attached screenshot). The font is a standard Google font (Lato) , so there should be no licensing issues. What might be causing this, is there a way around it? Thanks!

Hello I have a weird issue with the font caviar dreams. For whatever the reason in the system at home it show all the variants of the font, regular, italic, bold, bold italic, but I went to the office today only to find out that there with the same fonts and the fonts working on others apps, the affinity designer can't see italic and bold of that font for some reason. I don't know if this is present in another font I just use this for a work and I get the error when I open the file that the caviar dreams bold is missing. I checked in other applications and the font manager I use and the font is there. I tried to install in system just in case and still it doesn't work... I'm confused, everything between my home and office are at sync, windows, affinity versions, etc. Is there an option that I miss and probably force this font out? Thank you!

Iam waiting from one year that affinity will add regional text engine support for their apps...But i was dissapointed in every update that they doesn't include it. Affinity if you are listening and if you value your customers suggestion please add support for regional text engine support.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the Affinity Suite but I think that i've encountered an export bug with Affinity Designer for iPad (1.8.3). I've designed a business card for a friend and we decided to use the Papyrus font which suits his drawings. However, when exported as a PDF file, the spacing between letters is incorrect and looks weirds. This also breaks some designs because of misalignments in the entire document. Since the business cards contains his contact informations, I've created a test document to demonstrate my problem. I've tried many different settings but the only fixes I've found are to rasterize the font during export, or to convert the fonts as curves (not sure if this is the correct term). To make sure that I wasn't missing something, I've downloaded the trial version of Affinity Designer for macOS (1.8.3). With the same parameters, the text exported with the macOS version doesn't show the same problem as with the iPad version. You'll find the sample .afdesign file, PDF exports done with both macOS and iPad versions and screenshots of my export settings. Some more info : I'm using a brand new iPad Pro 11" (the 2020 model), so I don't think I've had enough time to break anything 😁 Thank you very much for reading and let me know if this is user error or if it is actually a bug. Hi, I have seen that you have problems with GSUB substitutions in more situations. This is screenshot of Courier New, MacOs Mojave running latest Affinity publisher 1.8.2 The difference is visible, though the right - wrong case - is in text field. Looking into the font, I discover that it doesn't have any subsititutions, either kerning (monospaced). Is this done automatically by Affinity designer?

As below, Chinese characters' preview cannot be displayed correctly. And some fonts are aimed for Chinese, like Source Han Sans, but the preview is showed in English. May be this is another point to improve. For example, in Chinese mode, we can show the preview like "中文 Abcde", rather than showing fonts' name.

After publishing my bookI had a look at the PDF-properties and noticed, that there is an font embedded, which I don't want to use. I would like to avoid to have to go through manually each text field in my 270 paged publication so my question to the forum: is there a convienient and easy way to search for specific fonts and their placement/location inside a publisher document? Or a simple search & replace possibility for fonts? Any help appriciated, thanks in advance. Robert

Hey! A suggestion regarding the font management: I am wondering if there is way to make the font substitution I make in Publisher can be permanent? I have noticed that the font substitution only works within Publisher. If I open the file where I have done this in Designer the substitution is gone and as there is noch font manager available I have to stick to Publisher for any further edits. I know I could use styles but in old files I don't used styles and so it's difficult to change certain fonts in the whole document at once. Is there a way to make this substitution permanent via a (suite-wide) font manager in every app? All the best, Chris -

Font Name: A-CID 勘亭流 Installed location:Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts しかし、文字は選択したフォントではありませんでした。 However, the characters were not in the font selected. また、フォントの前に！マークが付いています。 Also, there is a ! mark in front of the font. フォントを選択するウィンドウには、フォントが正常に表示されていました。 The font selection window displayed the fonts correctly.

There's at least a 1s lag when changing font color (drag on color wheel, not click), I remember AD changing font color in real time in previous versions. Video: font color.mov

Hi, I'm using the current release of Affinity Designer 1.8.0.585 and I found out, that it's not possible to change the font size with the number block at the right of the keyboard. It's only possible with the number sequnce at the top. Best regards, Thomas -
IN Affinity Photo Beta 1.8.2.172, Crash occurs when I try to double-click the default font (Arial) and overwrite with a different font. It doesn't always crash, but trying to change the default font by double-clicking and overwriting delivers a short list which disappears after 1 second and multiple attempts to change the font by overwriting ultimately causes a Crash. -
Hi Very weird thing, I'm using this font called "Rockness", and it displays perfectly fine in Adobe Suite yet when I try and type the same thing in Affinity I get this. Doesn't really matter what I type, the whole character mapping seems all over the place. Frustratingly I'm not having to go back to Adobe CS just to type out this line. Any explanation appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The UI default font seems too thin and the spacing clunky when the UI "big" font is used. The UI default font seems too small even when set to "big" (using 2560x1440 resolution on a LG 4k monitor)

Hello all, Something I have noticed throughout all three applications... When I use Indesign, I replace a word in a sentence and it replaces that word with the same font style etc in the box. If I do it in publisher, I loose the text formatting for the word in the box. I then have to replace the new word font with the current font in the sentence. if I do it in photo and designer the same thing happens. If I lay out an entire magazine, and have to change a single word in a paragraph, it should automatically replace the work when I paste it in, with the same font and formatting style that was in place. It should not replace the word in the text box with a random font.. Am I the only on that seems to find this strange.... Or have I missed a setting or a check box that stops this from happening in all three applications... -
I bought affinity designer But I can't use this software. korean fonts freeze problem??? I paid and purchased. But I can't use this program. Why are you not fixing it? It is the worst experience in my life.

Evening, So maybe I’m missing something simple with this. I copied and pasted some text of the internet. When doing so the font copied in a white background. Now every time I go to start new Artist Text the white background shows up. How do I remove this?

I've noticed that affinity photo is slowing down a lot, and I've downloaded lots of fonts from google and I want to remove the ones I no longer use, but I can't. I can't find any information on this at all and simply deleting the file doesn't do anything. Can anyone help me please?- 5 replies
