  1. I am a new Affinity user (purchased about 3 weeks ago) and am trying to learn how to use it for processing raw files from my Pentax K-70 which has a 14 bit A/D. My files are created as DNG in the camera and I have no trouble opening them with Affinity Photo. I watched the basic Raw Processing tutorials (maybe 3 or 4 of them). One of my questions is whether it is possible to have the histogram display the full 14 bit range of my pixels, rather than just 8 bit range? What does the histogram represent? Is it really the 14 bit data scaled down by 64 (The 6 bit shift between 14 and 8 bits)? If there is a video or earlier discussion of this topic could someone please refer me to it? This is so basic that I suspect these questions are answered elsewhere. Thanks in advance.
  2. I've only had APh for a couple of weeks (windows version) and this morning needed to use it with a batch of 50 or so RAW files from a shoot. Typically there are a few corrections that can be applied to all RAW files from a shoot . This is very straightforward in, and a vital part of, Photoshop's ACR. So I assumed that it would be just as easy in APh, But I could not find any way to process these 50 images in APh Please could someone tell me what I am missing here. Many thanks
  3. Hi, why is shown with a RAW file the correct pixel value but in the EXIF another much smaller value shown. See image. Is it a bug? If Jpg-load and persona develop is both to same. Greeting Dieter
  4. My default RAW processor is DXO, because it does the best I've used so far. I do like the RAW processor in Affinity and have used it for final images. However, it could use a few tweaks in my opinion. One is removing fringing. I do like that we can choose the colour, but it would be immensely helpful if we could use the eyedropper tool to grab the exact colour and if it could be additive that would be wonderful. Not fair to compare to DXO, I realise as lens comparison and compensation is what they do.
  5. HI All, Curious if anyone has tried using the new 1.5 version with Fuji's X-Trans Sensor... I know sharpness is an issue with Lightroom. Is AP same, worse, or better with fuji raw files versus the big boys like Lightroom or Iridient Developer? Pros Cons? Thanks for the help.
  6. I've just been working with Affinity Photo 1.5 in earnest and watched a number of the video tutorials. It's a great program! But I haven't spotted anything about capture sharpening for RAW images. I do use that feature quite a bit as an initial step in processing RAW files with other programs, like Lightroom and Photoshop. Is there an option like that in Affinity Photo and I've just missed it? Do you offer some way of applying capture sharpening? All I've seen in the program and videos so far is creative sharpening and output sharpening. Thanks, Dave
  7. When correcting or adjusting colours, for instance when you made a shot with a colour checker, it would be very helpful to separate a skin tone colour or any other colour in the passport or photo and line up that skin tone with the axis on the vector scope. Might even be helpful when not editing RAW.
  8. Hi all, I'm using Affinity Photo for a few days. It's outstanding for editing and retouching, but I've some problems with the raw developing where the biggest is the white balance: is there a way to have the scale in Kelvin? Thanks!
  9. When I run a batch job on some raw files using a macro I have created, the saved jpegs come out differently to when I run the same macro on files individually. Is there something I am missing? See attached photo: Left is individual output, and right is batch output. This only happens with raw files (olympus .orf) and not if run it on a jpeg. I can change the output of batch jobs to a degree by changing the develop assistant options, but I cannot get the result I wanted. I assume the problem is something to do with the develop persona, which I cannot record a macro for, but automatically runs when I open a raw file. Thanks for any help.
  10. Hello, I am new here from germany. My english is not good, but this Question: When i load a RAW-File (22MB from LUMIX FZ1000 = .RW2) is the loading time 8-10 Sec. Why ? Other Applications ACDSEE, ADOBE under Win 7 - 64 bit, 16GB (2xSSD 256GB) is by 1 Sec. RAM is max. Is fault the affinity-version or? So can i not work. See the Attach file. Processor is intel i5 and good speed - must works 8sec. for loading RAW by Affinity. The Range of functions is very good, but partly slow. Can you give me a answer to help. Greets Dieter
  11. Gents, any word on sigma support? https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/30464-affinity-15043-and-sigma/
  12. From a special cam I have sensor buffer data in bayer 12 bit format. To work with Affinity on these images I'd like to convert my data into the simplest raw format that's supported. My question: Which of these formats https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/4630-supported-develop-raw-cameras/ would you recommend for that, which is the simplest to create? (and documented of course...) Have independently looked at DNG, but thats also much effort to create, don't want to use a tool set, simply want to write the format! Note: can supply the sensor-specific color matrix if that is required for the format. Thanks, Laminosu
  13. Hi, I've tested the development of RAW files from the Panasonic DMC-GX80/85, because it is in the list of supported cameras (affinity photo 1.5.0.43 beta). It seem, that the white balance or the color interpretation of this raw files are not correct. When loading the corresponding dng file, the colors seems to be correct. According to dcraw, the filter pattern of this model is: BG/GR Loading RAW-files from a (the older model) Panasonic DMC-GF1 (also in the list of supported cameras) the color interpretation seems to be correct. In comparision to the corresponding dng file the interpretation of the raw data of this model seems to be nearly identical. According to dcraw, the filter pattern of this model is GB/RG Maybe the differnt filter patterns are the reason for misinterpreting the GX80 files? Cheers norbert.r
  14. The develop persona is using a different size for my RAW photos, that what is recorded in the EXIF. I attach a screenshot. Now, why is that? It makes me lose my confidence for the RAW converter. Having paid €3500 for a camera body, I am after the highest possible quality for the RAW conversion. BTW, if you are trying to reverse engineer proprietary RAW formats that the hardware vendors seem to have disclosed to other software makers, perhaps it would make sense to coordinate and try to push Sony, Canon etc to the right direction. Our photos belong to us.
  15. Windows 10 OS, CR2 raw files, When I open a CRW raw image the develop persona opens complete with a 'Develop' tab and a 'Cancel' tab. I believe this is as it should be. If I open a CR2 image produced by my EOS760D or EOS7D the image opens in develop persona but without either the 'Develop' or 'Cancel' tabs. When I close the image I receive a message telling me to either 'complete' or 'cancel'. At this stage I cannot complete since I am unable to access the 'Export' command, and since I do not have a 'Cancel' tab, I cannot cancel either. On some occasions I needed to go to Task Manager to close Affinity and then re-start. I have checked, and both raw files from both cameras are listed as supported. Can you check if this will eventually be corrected?
  16. Version 1.5.0.39 When I do the following open a RAW file change some basic settings in the "Develop" persona apply changes by clicking "Develop" save the file as "afphoto" file end the session start a new session open the previously saved "afphoto" file change to the "Develop" persona then all sliders show "0%"?! I attached two screen shots. The first shows the settings that I've made in the "Develop" persona, the second shows the positions of the sliders after re-opening the file. Well, the photo itself shows my changes, but I cannot see, what I did in the last development session...
  17. Hi, I noticed that Affinity Photo always thinks my RAW images are 96 DPI. The only way I know that I change that is to resize it AFTER I'm done with developing the raw image. Is there any way to set a default for all my raw images to be 300 dpi while I'm importing the RAW file or do I have to always "resize" it (without resampling)?
  18. Is Fujifilm X-T10 RAW supported. If not, do you have a plan and schedule to support the Raw conversion of Fujifilm X-T10 camera. It is quite popular model among my peer group. Cheers
  19. I tried to process a RAW foto (Nikon NEF format, camera is Nikon D3200). - The file can be opened without any problem. Fine. - Then I applied some changes in the develop persona. - Then I saved the file in Affinity's native format and got stunned. The original file has a size of 20,4 MB (24 MPix) - the converted "afphoto" file has a size of 458 MB (yes, fourhundred fifty eight megabytes)! So the size has increased by factor ~22! - I attached two screenshots that show the properties of both files (sorry, German labels...). Why??? What happes here? In fact, that's a show stopper for me because that makes the resulting files "unbackupable".
  20. I would like to see batch processing of raw files as in lightroon or Olympus 3. I believe to be competitive with photoshop, affinity needs the library or photo bin facility as well as cascading windows so users can compare at different zooms or clone from one image to another. I would also like to see the brushes for overlay accessible without moving from one tab and back again in RAW just as in lightroom or photo director. So far I am impressed with the stacking, HDR and panoramic usage and overall performance. I have had only one crash so far during a sharpening stage. TrevorGY
  22. I open a RAW file in AP, adjust it, select the Photo persona and am told I need to "commit" or cancel if I want to switch to another persona - there's a Develop button but no Commit button, so now I'm confused. This was mentioned over a year ago in the Mac beta forum so I assume people have decided there's a good reason for not changing the wording, but what is it? Searching the help file for commit shows that it's mentioned under "Developing a RAW image" but it isn't - the word doesn't appear. The help file includes the line "On the context toolbar, select Develop" - perhaps it could read something like "Commit the adjustments by selecting Develop on the context toolbar".
  23. Shooting raw with the sony a7ii. If i import the file into the app it turns purple and is barely recognizable let alone editable.
  24. Hi there. I´ve just instaled the Windows beta of Affinity Photo, and i am now trying to adapt my workflow. I would like to know how to open a group of images directly as layers. I´ve googled a little and tried to open as new stack (ctrl+alt+O) but in this way the layers are automatically anchored and mixed. I just want to open them as layers in order to work with them with adjustment layers and luminosity masks. How do I do it? Otherwise, fabulous work, congratulations. Thank you.
