  1. I want to use the color PANTONE 10101 C, this color should be in "PANTONE+ Metallics Coated" swatches but it isn't there
  2. For those of you who needs Pantone colors support in Affinity Designer before the Serif team release an official support in it, here is a trick you can do. Firstly, you need an Adobe Illustrator licence to be able to do this, or install a demo version of Illustrator. Then you need to install SwatchBooker. http://www.selapa.net/swatchbooker/ Or you compile it yourself to get a Mac version, or you use it under Linux, or use it with Windows. Personally, I installed the Windows version into a CrossOver bottle and it works out of the box. Launch SwatchBooker Editor, in the File menu,
  3. I've seen a number of discussions, but somehow they never really "solved" it, as it seems. The problem I experience is that when using a PMS color as a SPOT and OVERPRINT color in a separate layer, the export fails to retain this. Not only is the layer renamed, but also the PMS color (the actual PMS, not the layer) is lost. When importing the pdf, the PMS color (layer) is converted based on CMYK. This happens both in Photo and Designer. What did I do? I've added the color (PMS 803 U) as a Global color, with SPOT and OVERPRINT selected. I have selected the item, filled it using the bucket
  4. Hello. When opening Illustrator files in Affinity Designer, i would like to keep the spot colors. If i open an Illustrator-.eps file in Affinity Designer, the Pantone color is automatically changed into cmyk. When opening an Illustrator-.ai or -.pdf file in Affinity Designer, the Pantone color is maintained as spot color. Does this have something to do with my color settings or is this a general problem with .eps files? Thanks in advance for advice.
  5. Hello, can any of the Affinity applications make a monotone photo using a specific spot colour? The documents are always printed CMYK (offset or digital) or just viewed as PDF, but I would like to be able to make the original in the client's PMS colour. Since time began (when 2 colour printing was still a thing – ha, ha, am I that old?!) I've made these by converting the original pic to B&W in Photoshop then dropping into QXP and adding 100% of a colour to the image and whatever a percentage (depending on legibility requirements) as a background. I'm hoping one of, or a combination of Affi
  6. Hi there! Quick question. I started making global Pantone colors for my doc. I marked only two of four colors as spot colors. When I select "edit global color" to switch them to spot colors, the option isn't in the little dialogue box that pops up. Is there somewhere else in the program that I can edit that option? Thanks in advance for any help with this! Stephen:)
  7. I’m showing a client designs for a logo by screen sharing using zoom but when I send her mockups she is seeing a different colour from what she sees in zoom. I’ve tried viewing pdfs, jpgs and png files on various screens in different software and I’m seeing the same colour with slight variations as you would expect. When I show her the pdfs on my iPad using zoom she sees the same colour as when I show her Affinity on my iPad. She really wants the colour she sees on zoom. I’m using a Pantone and have all the details for that Pantone. I realise this isn’t really an affinity issue but this is the
  8. Here is a kind of a resume of a couple of earlier post I have made related to use of PANTONE spot colors in connection of grayscale bitmaps to color and tone images, similarly as can be done e.g. in InDesign and QuarkXPress. Thanks to recent post by @Antonio Lupiañez I spent some more time examining how this works in Affinity Publisher (and Designer), and noticed that there were still new things to learn, as the way Affinity apps currently support use of spot colors as toners and colorants is still mostly clumsy and requires workarounds that are far from being intuitive. The focus in this
  9. I can't get the search field in the Pantone palette to find anything. Anyone else have this problem?
  10. I've exported a document with a spot colour and selected "honour spot colour" in the export panel, but the swatch does not display in the colour bars in the PDF?
  11. I have a label design in Affinity Designer with a tiff image. Tiff image is colored with Pantone in AD. When I export to PDF, tiff color changes to CMYK. All vector objects with Pantone color export as expected, only tiff has the problem. Am I doing something wrong?
  12. Hi Is there a way to find the Pantone colors used in a Designer file? If a color is used from a Pantone Color Book in Designer - it gets listed in the recent colors. But I can't find a way to detect the Pantone color later in case I need it - Is there a way to do it?
  13. Good day, Is there a way to see what the Pantone colour value of an object is? I'm working in a "Print (Press-Ready)" document. I applied a Pantone colour, and also added the colour to the swatches panel. If I hover over that swatch later, how do I confirm what Pantone colour that swatch represents? Thank you.
  14. When adding a Pantone colour to a document, if added as a fill it will use the Pantone ID but if you add a Pantone colour as a global colour it will be given a generic name of Global Colour {number} i.e. Global Colour 1 It really should default to the Pantone ID name i.e. PANTONE 105 CP and if you want to rename it then do so but to remove a Pantone ID doesn't make any sense.
  15. Hello, I'm glad that affinity designer for iPad supports PANTONE libraries... However, I have a few issues that I would like to ask if it has any work around. Can I search the PANTONE library for a specific pantone? I already know the specific PANTONE code, but I don't know how to look for it in the PANTONE library. Currently I'm looking for PANTONE 8062, so I have to first look for the correct library (PANTONE + Solid Coated, I think), and then scroll through the PANTONE items. I still can't find what I'm looking for, and I'm not sure if a
  16. Pantone are offering three .ase (Adobe Swatch Exchange) files, free, one is new. https://www.pantone.com/eblasts/20190507/index.html These three palette files are good for trying out the Import Palette feature of Affinity Publisher. Readers are invited to post images using one or more of these palettes in this thread. William
  17. I have an imaginary, but not uncommon situation. I need to prepare and output a 5 color print job for the print shop. CMYK + Pantone. Currently, while working in a CMYK document, when I select and use a Pantone color in the document, Photo separates the Pantone into the CMYK Composite Color channels. This is wrong. It would be correct and intuitive if Photo automatically recognized, that a Pantone color had been used, and created a new separate 5th channel - Composite Pantone channel. I would like to suggest this as a feature. I'm aware of the Honor Spot colors in the PDF output opti
  18. I have opened a 3 colour vector logo which I know contains a Pantone reference for each colour used but I am unable to find the Pantone colour by simply clicking on any of the 3 colours as you would when using Illustrator?
  19. Hi, Affinity imports EPS, PDF, AI ... They support Pantone and other color books... but what if they do not see the Pantone names in the imported PDF file? If you have a description of colors attached to a document - you substitute, if not - you guess... You can create a palette from a document, but the name of colors is not helpful... Corel, Illustrator can read colors names - Affinity can not (even from the PDF generated by them)? Anyone have some worked Adobe - Affinity workflow?
  20. Hi, A growing number of my customers are requesting paint colours from the colours used in their designs. My local Decorating Centre offer their own conversions for Pantone colours, however not all of these colours are exact, and offer their closest matches. Iv'e come across a colour pallet plugin which will help me with this problem, however I was not sure which of the six plugin options, if any, are compatible with Affinity products. Specifically Affinity Designer. I have attached a screenshot of the options as a file. If anyone can assist with my query, it would be a
  21. Hi, I'm writing to suggest that a search box be shown anytime a pantone swatch picker is displayed. The picker is virtually useless without the ability to type a PMS number. Surprising that it's is not shown by default, and more surprising that it's sometimes not even available as an option. Would be a welcome addition. Thanks! Cleay.
  22. ON PANTONE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN SOLID AND CMYK IF ONE GIVES 123C THEN WHICH TO FOLLOW SOLID OR CMYK?
  23. Hello to all who think they can help, or if you think this might actually be a feature request! I'm trying to make the switch between Adobe and affinity, and I'm having some trouble with Pantone colours. Scenario: One of our clients has asked us to design a product, we've done all the work leading up to the prototype stage, and need to know the Pantone colour value of their logo to match some highlight parts to. We have a .png of their logo, now usually on photoshop I would use the colour picker and then go to the colour library and it would tell me which is the nearest Pantone to my s
  24. Dear Community, its my first question here and I'm a “newcomer“ of the photography-world, but I think that you have an answer for my question. We are a small company from Germany which are selling gift paper & -ribbons. At the moment we are modify our catalogue and online-shop. Caused by that we need a lot new photos of our products, which we release with PhotoKey 7 Pro (very easy and good) want to edit afterwards with Affinity. Certainly a lot of our products are similar but in different colors. We want to shot one or two main pictures which are colored afterwards in the certain c
  25. Hi All I'm importing a two colour pdf - 199C and 430U. The fonts (430U) - Bembo aren't on my new mac yet so the text won't show when I place the image - not even in the layers. The image part of the pdf - 199C shows. Is this a font issue or a mix in pantone - C's and U's? Can anybody out there come up with a simple explanation, I've recently started using Affinity Designer so a real newbie. Thanks in anticipation Vernon
