I feel the Opacity slider should be moved in Affinity Designer & in Affinity Photo what do you guys think ?? This small change would make it so much easier and much more enjoyable to use

Hello there. I am having a problem after the last update. I just wonder if I have it. The program crashes while warping a text with the mesh warp tool. I also encountered a crash while sending files from designer to photo and lost the file I didn't save. (I clicked on the recovery option but did not open the file and crashed despite waiting for a long time) Am I the only one having this problem?

Hi, i imported a mockup, an iPhone in my case, now I would get several copies of it changing only the screen. Tho every time I change one screen every screens changes. Im searching for "duplicate as a copy" I had in PS. Thanks in advance.

I've been using all three Affinity programs for a while but recently they just won't open. Sometimes after trying and then quitting them several times they may. Sometimes if I shut down and restart they may open. But generally speaking at the time of writing none of them open, none. I don't even get an initial loading screen. When I check how the are loading they all come up as "Application not responding". When right clicking the app on the dash it shows "application not responding" then trying to open from the finder i get "The application XXXXXXXX is not open anymore". I never get to a point of a crash report so can't send you anything. The designer and photo are both version 1.9.2 publisher is 1.8.6. I am running a mac mini (late 2012) Catalina 10.15.7. It is very annoying as I am in the middle of work but can't access anything!

I'm pretty new to photography in general and even newer to Affinity. Took some night photos of Brisbane CBD. Keen for some feedback / constructive criticism.

3 questions: 1) AP - When I open a Raw, in Develop Persona, I can set a "preset" singularly for Basic, Lns, Tns...this is good but is it possible set one "preset" that automatically includes all three these values? It’s really uncomfortable having to save and select 3 separate presets each time. 2) AP - Color Picker Tool: is it possible to see the picker radius on the cursor, like a brush? 3) AD - Is it possibile to hide the outline selection of the selected objects? I ask this because I need the color changes of the stroke when I pick some color. The Outline Selection hides the object stroke, so I can't see the changes. Thanks

For creating seamless patterns the new pattern layer is very useful but lacks some features for my workflow in creating seamless textures with higher resolution than 1k. Problems: I need my texture to span over the whole document for textures up to 4k, which is not even supported by the Layers-> New Patterns Layer. This only supports layers up to 1k. My workaround of creating a 4k selection and then create a pattern layer from this selection yields a 4k pattern layer but leads to frequent crashes where I just loose all my progress. So it sometimes needs several tries until the creation workes without a crash. If the pattern layer spans over the whole document you loose the possibility to see how the texture looks on repeated pattern. I would love to have a feature like in Krita or also requested in this thread: The work around to simply go for a 8k document to have a 4k seamless texture to see how it repeats is quite performance hungry and leads to more slower workflow. Suggestion: Add a seperate wrap around mode or add the possibility to see the repeated pattern over the extends of the document boarders for working on full size patterns. This would help to create gameart in affinity photo much more efficient!

After upgrading to a decent camera that can utilize Affinity Photo's capabilities I had no second thought of where to take my first photos.

I have got a number of picture border files in JPG format I need to convert to transparency in PNG format. I need pure black to become fully opaque, pure white to become 100% transparent and various shades of grey to become various amounts of transparency. Some of the files are just pure black and pure white. These are easy to convert: Flood select tool on the white, press delete and instant 100% transparency, then export. It's the various shades of grey I am struggling with. Any help gratefully received. Jonathan

It appears that currently the astro stacking uses the intersection method to stack all images. Would it be possible to have the option to get a mosaic of all pictures? Or/and use a reference frame? (I know, I know, it's not DSS, but just asking) Cheers, Dom

Hello everybody I'm both new to the forums here and somewhat new to photo editing altogether - having used Affinity so far only as a tool for texture creation in 3D-modelling, though I want to use more of it and started working a bit with some recent vacation photos I shot, turning them into something actually nice to look at. As one example, I'd like to share this photo of the castle Pfalzgrafenstein in the middle of the Rhine river in Germany. It's my first serious try so far at editing a photo and I would be very if some people might give me some feedback about it. Here I have taken an original image of a beautiful sunset and using the G'Mic plugin with Affinity Photo created some artistic HDR versions of the Image. Using a variation on the HDR merge technique.

I am running the latest update of Affinity Photo on my Windows 10 PC. When I access Preferences and set the RAM usage higher there is no way of saving the settings. Likewise when I disable Hardware Accelorator it says it needs a restart but when I do the Hardware Accelerator box is again ticked. Is thre a way to save these settings. I also have the latest Beta copy and that works prefectly. Does anyone thing a re-install of the program will sort the problem?

Focus stack from 15 RAW files

Hello everyone, first of all I would like to mention that English is not my native language, so big sorry if something is not understandable. This is my work that I've done since last month when bought Affinity Designer and Photo. I've always wanted to lean into digital graphics, so when I bought my first MacBook an opportunity to start new experience appeared. I've never had any experience with other graphic programs other than GIMP, so Im totally novice. Currently I'm learning from Affinity videos, some speedart on YouTube and written tutorials here and there over the Internet. I'm still learning the tools and trying to find my style, so my work is probably a copy of something I've found on the web... But after all, I'm proud of myself what I have achieved since the beginning. Mostly, Im working with Designer, because I don't have good camera to play with Photo, but I'm trying to learn both. What do you think?

Hi, I have rearranged the workspace (studio layout) within affinity photo. Check if its good.

OK, I am unsure if I have a weird setting or what. I have never used the clone stamp tool in Affinity Photo before, which I find a bit unusual because it was a go-to in Photoshop. But after I select the area for sampling (and to clone under my mouse) with Alt+Click, when I press the mouse button and move it accross the screen, the sampler moves in the opposite direction. This is just weird to me. It moves right when I am moving the mouse left with the LMB pressed. I seems to maybe move up when I move the mouse down, too? I cannot get used to this. Is this a feature where I have a screwed-up setting? If so, I don't want it. Tell me how to reset it. Or is this a bug? I would never be able to get anything accomplished using the clone tool this way. But, I tried to make sense of the tool options and I don't see anything that should be of consequence. Perhaps I am wrong? Just, yick.

Situation: stack of 52 images, static subject, used focus rail to achieve focus with increasing sharpness to objects/edges farther away Camera: Nikon D5100 with El-Nikkor 50mm (enlarger) lens mounted backward at f/5.6, 1/20 second. Affinity Photo 1.10.0.1127 Since I know little about stacking in Affinity Photo, I used only defaults. The stacked result is soft (photo with center in focus), while for example, the sharpest petals surrounding the dahlia center (photo with unsharp center) is found on one of the middle images in the stack. I experimented with the various types of stacking but did not find one that appeared to actually select the sharpest petals consistently. How can I achieve that sharp-sharp focus stack result?

Aff Designer + Photo 1.101 : PC (Win 10) crashes when I try to change the name of a new asset in studio. AND: if a window on second monitor is opened, Affinity does not support click and draw a png or jpg into the program - sometimes there is a warning-tone, sometimes chrashes the whole software.
