  1. I really enjoy creating double exposure images. Affinity Photo is such a joy to use and does the job exceptionally well. These images are so simple yet so "effective" and fascinating to me. I think the simplicity and minimalist approach is what makes creating them so fun. I can't get enough.
  2. Hey folks, I'm just wondering what' the difference between the two options in the Layer → Geometry menu. At first glance they both seem to have the same function – maybe someone can enlighten me? 💡 Cheers and … wash your hands MrDoodlezz 😄
  3. I love the artwork of Roger Dean, so now that I am on furlough leave for the duration here on our plague planet, this is my take on the Dragons of Roger Dean. Juno Reactor on the tunes and a sleepless night. Hope you like.
  4. Hi there, I’m trying to use the mixer brush in a different layer than my original photo and so far it’s not working. I’d like to know if I’d be able to this or not. I want the painting version of my photograph to be in a different layer. So what I do is: I duplicate the original photo layer and in between the 2 layers I create a new pixel layer. I then decrease the fill of the top layer of my original photo to 1%. Then I merge it down with the pixel layer I created. The other original layer of my photo is moved up and opacity decreased, so I can see what I’m painting. I set the primary colour to none, so the mixer brush is clean all the time in order to use the colours of my original photo. I then check the brush to be wet. When I paint to this merged down layer (1% fill original photo + new pixel layer) nothing happens. There are pixels in the layer and the brush is not getting them. Can anyone give an insight on this? Thanking in advance!
  5. This bug was also in Version 1.8.2, but in the actual version 1.8.3 on my iPad Air 3 (2019) (iPad OS 13.4) it is still there. I cannot export my Affinity projects, the file size of the export is 0.00 bytes and I cannot save the file because there is no file. This error only occurs when I try to export with a higher resolution than for example 7000 pixels height. It seams like the export fails when the exported project is larger than ... megapixels. When I choose a smaller resolution, I works.
  6. Hi guys! Coming from Photoshop, I wonder if is it possible to resize canvas using layer (or selection) boundaries. In PS, you can load the selection from a layer that contains some transparent areas and than you can automatically "clip" the canvas to layer visible (selected) contents. See image for a sample. Is there some way to achieve the same result in AP? Thanks a lot! 🙂
  7. How do you scale up Photos without loosing Quality? How to export images for Social Media? In this Video i will show you both. 8. Hello. I would like to propose a feature that would give the user an option to male the blue line guide in pen tool be hidden and only the actual stroke be visible. This feauture would be useful on siuations where the stroke width is very thin like 1px to 5px. The proposed feature will look something like this with the only difference where the blue line guide is not visible.
  9. Hi There: Just downloaded/installed Affinity 1.8.3. In Photo, if I go to the Crop tool, choose unconstrained and set a custom crop, then go to the Presets Manager, Create Preset is grayed out. Mike.
  10. With its interacting tools for drawing/painting, page layout etc., I’d love to replace Clip Studio with the Affinity suite for comics. I’ve given Clip Studio several tries, but I’m a graphic designer in my main job, hence used to Adobe apps (and Quark before that), and using Clip Studio only ever goes well for an hour at most before HULK SMASH CINTIQ … Two things (mainly) I’d love to see: 1 – 1-bit support. I know, I know, this has been discussed here at length: Apparently there’s not too much hope for 1-bit editing, but maybe at least for export? (For those who don’t know why not use normal grayscale mode – 8/16-bit grayscale images are rasterized in print, 1-bit images are not.) 2 – Publisher could use a (really) simple drawing tool. Why? Because Affinity Photo only works on one spread page at a time. (Alternatively, this restriction could be lifted.) It would be handy to sketch rough thumbnails while zoomed out in Publisher, with ten, twelve pages in view; then later zoom in on single spreads and do the finer sketching in Photo.
  11. Hi all, I was wondering on MacOS what happens with the update installation files with the automatic update after they are installed? Are they automatically deleted or they remain on the hard drive? Thanks
  12. Whenever I try to update Affinity Photo 1.8.0 on Windows 10 to 1.8.2 or 1.8.3 Setup starts normal but ends with the message: "Error with Setup" ("Fehler beim Setup"). This even happens with a clean install. In this case Setup creates the folder 'c:\program files\Affinity\Photo', deletes it right away and ends itself with the error message. Update: I started affinity-photo-1.8.2 and installed it to another folder ('D:\Programme\Photo') and it worked. Then I started affinity-photo-1.8.3 on this very folder and again it failed with the same Error-Message again. Fun fact: When I retry to install into this now empty folder D:\Programme it fails again. So, for now I can't install to 'c:\program files\Affinity\Photo' nor to 'D:\Programme\Photo'. 14. Hiya folks! 🖖 I'm sure we're all dealing with the same stresses and frustrations brought on by the COVID-19 chaos (my country has been on full lockdown for a while now). It's important to stay busy to stop the cabin fever from kicking in, so I decided to create a little custom raster/pixel brush pack for Affinity apps - free for all! The brushes are not too complex, mimicking some traditional inking tools we all know and love, such as brush pens and fineliners. Perfect for those 'run-and-gun' illustrations where you just want to get to work and avoid the option-paralysis brought on by having to go through hundreds of custom brushes first. Included in the "Lockdown Liners" brush pack you'll find: 1 x HB Pencil (inspired by the Palomino Blackwing 602 pencil) 1 x Precision Eraser (inspired by the Tombow Mono eraser) 4 x Fineliners in Broad, Medium, Fine, and Ultra Fine (inspired by Pigma Micron technical pens) 1 x Brush Pen (inspired by the Tombow Fudenosuke Hard Tip brush pen) 1 x Gel Pen (inspired by the Sakura Gelly Roll) Fully compatible with Affinity Photo for desktop and iPad, and Designer's Pixel Persona for desktop and iPad. *Best used with a drawing tablet or iPad with Apple Pencil to take full advantage of the pressure sensitivity that the brushes offer. I'll likely make a few tweaks to the pack as I go along, but I'll be sure to update it on Gumroad when I do so that everyone who has already downloaded it can be notified. Hopefully you can create some cool work with the brushes to help pass the time while we're all stuck indoors - if you do, be sure to tag me on Instagram, http://www.instagram.com/christidutoit, I'd love to see what you make! Here's the download link to the brushes on Gumroad: http://www.gum.co/lockdownliners As mentioned, these brushes are totally free to download and use, just type $0 in the price tab and click "I Want This!". Stay safe out there! - Christi. ☠️
  15. Here in Singapore, we do not have a lock down yet but we are practicing social distancing. Everywhere you go you see "red cross" as a mark to warn others not to sit there or stand togther. So for some its quite depressing because we have to force oneself to be apart from another even its your spouse while eating in a cafe or restaurant. I was inspired by my friend's sharing on this and so i decided to try to create a simple artwork from it. Nothing too crazy and its probably very simple for the gurus here. But I struggled with it abit. LOL Would appreciate your feedback on areas of improvement. Thanks
  16. Hi, What Affinity products is best for Web Develoeprs? Also can Affinity Publisher do what Sketch can do like the Hero/Banner background image of https://fontawesome.com/ assuming I already the icons?
  17. Hey all I've been working on a comic for the last few months and now that I'm posting episodes on Webtoon I figured I'd share it with the community here. The panel in the post is from what'll be episode 11 or 12. I'm really happy with how this one turned out. I do all the inking and most of the flatting in Procreate on my iPad Pro (just upgraded from the 9.7 inch Pro to the new 12.9!) then I bring it into Affinity Photo and do all the colour work. Sometimes I'll make a few vector objects in Designer. I've been doing all the lettering in Publisher. You can check out the webtoon link at https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/thicc-skinned/list?title_no=404235 and I'd love if you'd subscribe
  18. Hi, I really enjoy your software but I have a nasty bug. Steps to reproduce: Open Affinity Photo Open a picture or a template <crash> This happens every time. Please help. I've attached the crash report. RB, Kons 99775287-b593-4b54-bea1-a34c86213e58.dmp
  19. Hi, I'm currently running 1.7.3 and can see that there is an update from this version to 1.8.x The App store shows an update but after clicking on Update, nothing happens and the Update button simply reverts to UPDATE. Occasionally, this changes to OPEN but all that does is launch my current version. I see no option to check for updates so am struggling to get the latest update.
  20. Can´t open Affiity Photo iPad files (from iCloud) in desktop app. "Can´t open file. This file version is not supported by this affinity-version" ("Die Dateie ließ sich nicht öffnen. /pfad/... Die Dateiversion wird von dieser Affinity Version nicht unterstützt.") Desktop: Version 1.16.11, iPad: 1.8.2 Thanks for your help!
  21. Every time I change to anther brush and go back to the last brush used, the size resets to default. Is there a way to maintain the size of the brush? To maintain the size, I have to leave the brush properties open and change the size from there 😕.
  22. Version: I did not have this problem with previous versions. It seems to be a problem with Wacom Tablet. Not related to a specific action. Last time it occured with Mesh Warp. At a certain point Afiinity Photo "freezes". Everything still seems the same, but nothing happens anymore. Try to save the file, but Affinity does not respond. Misty screen. The only possible action is to force ending Afiinity. And yes: work lost! Please do something about this. Kind regards, Ben
  23. My good friend DJ Freddy Fresh from Minnesota, he loves this I'm loving Affinity Photo, really starting to get into it
