  1. You’re welcome … by the way, what do these inscriptions mean? … unfortunately I don’t speak Hebrew (at least I guess it’s Hebrew) … ;)
  2. Hello, Please consider adding right to left support for the text tool and thanks for this amazing app regardes,
  3. Please reconsider RTL support because I already left illustrator and semi switched to Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo, but unfortunately most of my work in Arabic so I can't fully switch and settle for Affinity I want but I couldn't. Help Please!!!
  4. Arabic please! I want to migrate all my projects and work to Affinity designer and I can't because of the RTL support is missing.
  5. I'm afraid we don't currently support right to left scripts like Arabic, and we don't expect to for a long time. I'm sorry; it's just a market we aren't addressing at the moment.
  6. Hi .. Why I can't write in Arabic ? is there anything I can do or it should be supported from your side ? any plans soon ? Regards
  7. can you please add arabic support for the text tool . it will be a huge advantage for the software in the middle east as adobe already have it but your software are much much better .
  8. Hi .. I tried typing in Aarabic in the designer to design something letters are not connected so your software doesn't support arabic language ? Regards
  9. ...and a Dutch, French, Arabic, Norwegian, Russian and don't forget a Chinese forum B) . I thought nowadays German people all learn English in school? On the other hand, watching ARD/WDR/ZDF etc... movies are still being synched to German: James Bond is still saying "[...] geschüttelt nicht gerührt", so much fun! It's the same in France. "secouée pas bougé". LOL. I wouldn't mind this keeping forum single language: all English, though I'd rather read in Dutch. :)
  10. dear first thing i would like to thank you for this magnificent application and i am waiting for it`s complete release but i would like to inform you that it does not support rt to lt languages like arabic language and others it will be great effort from you yo support as PS support these languages thank you in advance
  11. I really love this set overall. There's a bit of unconscious Arabic influence probably; I was listening to the Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor while drawing windroses 22-24. He's a jerk, you know? In his fourth voyage he gets stuck in a tomb after his wife dies (custom of her people) and ends up murdering other people (women too) who are thrown alive into the mass grave with their dead spouses. He then steals their food and grave robs so that if/when he escapes he'll be able to survive their stuff and he sells it all later to get filthy rich. Cannibalism wasn't mentioned, but . . . I wouldn't have been at all surprised. *shudders.* I didn't remember all this stuff from the first time I read the Arabian Nights as a kid . . . My favorite windrose might be 23. I don't know, though.
  12. I just downloaded Affinity after reading all the glowing reviews. Looks and works great, but I want to second the motion to support right to left languages such as Hebrew.
  13. dear Affinity design, gooday i find it a lovely app to use for designing, yet it seems it has no support for arabic language. the current situation is that it treats arabic like english language( separate letters and writes from left to right) although i tried to adjust the settings yet it will still write from left to right even if it starts from the right side of the page. can you please fix that it would be great :). looking forward to hear from u regards, abdulla alzahmi
  14. Hi Dave, Indeed, I didn't have time to ascertain whether those features were plain vanilla OT, AD-specific or a blend thereof, but something on the back of my head told me that the name change might be related to that… Good call, then! As for your implementation of common ligatures, that does sound like a sensible approach. And even though OT is indeed an industry standard, it's nice to hear you're looking into AAT support as well. :) Hmm, you say the ‘hist’ feature doesn't support final and medial forms, even though there are some cases (the medial/final s being the most outstanding) where it could apply? I guess that may be a shortcoming of the spec itself and, thus (and since I'm all for following specs and standards), my suggestion of escalating that to those who define it in the first place may not be that farfetched, then? As for ‘fina’, I'm guessing that is probably specific to scripts that require it by default [i just checked; arabic and syriac do], so maybe mixing and matching unrelated features may not be the best way to go when designing a font (or an application, for that matter)… But if it is the *only* way to do it, alas, I guess I'll have to bundle an instruction manual with my fonts (as for your side of the equation, well, it was just a suggestion for an ultra specific and rare use case, so if you really can't implement that, no biggie). :P Speaking of which: ‘calt’s of “long s_[space]”, “long s_[period]”, “long s_[comma]”, “long s_[hyphen]”, “long s_[em dash]”, “long s_[en dash]”, [etc.] pairs could also do the trick, I guess, but wouldn't that be a bit, pardon the pun, baroque? [Also: wouldn't that only work with explicitly input long s, U+017F *characters* instead of subbed glyphs, which should really be rendered as proper long ‘s’s regardless of their surroundings?] Anyway, I'll also take this particular issue to other pastures (namely, the Typophile and Glyphs.app forums), as it seems interesting enough to warrant some further investigation and discussion. You asked me about fonts that might behave in a more desirable manner in other apps; unfortunately, I didn't have much time to scour my work computer's font library, since I was doing it in between jobs. I mostly tested Adobe's own “Pro” fonts, but I'll be sure to check out that behaviour on other 3d party fonts and apps, and also on a font family I'm developing which, fittingly, has a gothic variant featuring medieval glyphs aplenty (I believe I haven't implemented the ‘hist’ feature yet, but now that you made me aware of it, I'll most definitely look into that; thank you for mentioning it). So, maybe that font will come from yours truly. ;) Anyway, I'll let you know about my findings later on. Well… As for the sub-panel collapsibility, my issue with it wasn't with finding out about it, but instead with reverting it. ;) That was the frustrating part, when I couldn't reveal one category after I accidentally (or was it deliberately, as a UI stress-test?) collapsed it, even though I was frantically clicking on its name tag and expecting it to work. So, even if you don't add a disclosure triangle, just having the whole sub-panel header rectangle be clickable would make the UX that much more friendly, IMHO. I guess that pretty much sums it up for now… Good conversation we're having here; I'm really glad that you care about typography as much as your company's name implies. ;)
  15. Nice App. Still looking for some features like "overprint", "Hebrew writing direction", "line size in mm and not points" and many other like we used to have in Fh or in Ai,

  16. please support right to left languages, the text is shown backward.. it will be a great feature especially in "publish" ..
  17. Hi, I'm really glad you're enjoying Affinity Designer! :) I know that we've already had requests for RTL support and we'll definitely do it, but there are a number of other things which also must be done as a priority, so I'm not sure when it will be added, sorry... I know that it is actually quite difficult to implement, so definitely won't suddenly appear any time soon... Thanks again, Matt
  18. First of all, thank you for making this amazing product. I almost instantly decided to leave Adobe's products after I used Affinity Designer. One thing I used to find annoying with Photoshop/Illustrator is lack of support for writing text in RTL languages like Arabic or Farsi. It is available only in ME editions which are hard to find and sometimes outdated. Right now, I couldn't get RTL text writing in Arabic to work with Affinity Designer, and it would be great if this feature was implemented. Thanks,
  19. Hi! Really nice product! Are you going to support RTL languages as well? Alexander
  20. The beta I downloaded doesn't support writing from right-to-left (like in Hebrew and Arabic). Are you planing on adding such support? THX
