    Hi,
does anyone know if the affinity-team is thinking about adding tagged-pdf-suport for accessibility to publisher in the future?
That would be a great and necessary feature!

    Hi,
Accessible PDF creation is now required for all printed matter for public authorities. Is there any thought of supporting PDF/UA in the next version? This would certainly be an important purchase argument for many designers. And a killer feature that would certainly promote the switch from Indesign.
    Regards

Agreed, this is a rather pressing issue for me to solve and I only have Affinity.

I agree, would love to see Affinity push some updates to Publisher for accessibility. I feel Affinity can become a game changer and disrupt the publishing world if they can incorporate really awesome accessbility features from tagging elements, tables and reading order.

I'd love to see Affinity Publisher support tagged and accessible PDFs from the ground up, ideally with full support for PDF/UA. Many institutions and government bodies require this for public documents, and making it part of the program's logic could be a major selling point.
I am not convinced that the way in which InDesign implements this in is the best way of going about it; it tends to create a lot of extra work that most people don't bother with. Instead, it should be possible to use this structural information to make document creation more efficient and improve a print/Web workflow.

I totally agree. I don't know many designers who even know it's possible to create an accessible PDF, or what it actually means. But everyone gets it for web work. I can't see a single disadvantage of PDFs were created to be accessible by default.

Agreed. It would be a good feature to have. Some of my clients have recently been asking for this, and InDesign certainly does not make the job easy or fast.

Thanks for the reply - just fixed this actually. The apps were installed on an external drive, so yes installed elsewhere. While this isn't an issue when running them separately, it stops Publisher from working with the other two personas. I moved them back into the main drive Applications folder and it's now working.
It'd be good if I could run Publisher with the two personas from the external drive in future though, as I'm trying to conserve disk space on the main drive.

From what I can see it depends on the makeup of the EPS file, I've got one that works smoothly and another that performs quite slow, the slow one containing lots of lines, moveto's etc.
I'll log this to see if anything can be done to speed it up.
    Thanks

Maybe this functionality could be implemented in both Publisher and Designer. Government bodies request the WCAG 2.1 standard as from December 2018 for PDF and web material. It would be an enormous bonus to be able to use both Affinity Designer and Publisher to conform. The rationale of this standard can be found here: https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/
Also see other requests on this forum https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/65212-tagged-pdf-support-for-accessibility/
