Hello, I have a problem with the export of the bleed area in the PDF. AP only exports the bleed area when crop marks are activated. However, I would like to export the document without crop marks, but with bleed area for a print shop. This is not possible. AP only exports the document without bleed. Is this an error or is it intentional?

Regards

When you say “AP” do you mean Affinity Photo or Affinity Publisher?

AP is the official abbreviation for Photo whereas APu is an official abbreviation for Publisher. (If you can, hover your mouse over the abbreviations in this thread to see what’s what.)

It’s a good idea to make sure that you use the right one so we have a better idea of which application you’re using.

Hello, I mean Affinity Publisher - sorry.
In my case, the exported PDF only has the document dimensions without the bleed area - I have measured this. And when importing into APu, only these original dimensions are imported - even if there are crop marks, for example. These are also not visible in the import.

Hi @kai2,

The Yellow area is an A4 Page, and the Red area is a 6 mm bleed...

If this isn't working for you, can you upload a sample Publisher file so we can take a look?

Hi @kai2,

Many thanks for the file...

Do you have Show Bleed enabled under the View menu? If you do, you should see the 2 mm bleed when changing the Page Box to BleedBox in the context toolbar...

Yes, I have activated this and I can also see the crop, but the export does not take over the bleed area. If the crop marks are activated then the bleed is exported.

Here is the exported PDF with the dimensions 594x841 mm (A1). But should actually be 598x845 with bleed.

But your file is shown with the bleed in Acrobat Reader at 598 mm x 845 mm without any crop marks...

Yes, Acrobat shows the correct size for this document, but when I place the PDF in APu, the PDF is imported without a bleed area.

  1. Create an SRA1 Publisher document 600 mm x 940 mm
  2. Place your PDF file on the page
  3. Select the PDF in the Layers Panel
  4. Change the default Page Box from TrimBox to BleedBox from the dropdown in the context toolbar
  5. Note the dimensions in the Transform panel change to include the bleed
