  1. The Polluted Mind! Unload your mind from all the pollution and noise we collect, store and think about that mentally drains us. Created in Affinity Photo, I usually start on the Mac then switch to the iPad for when I need more precise control using Apple Pencil. To see the rest of the collection, head over to allanthompson.art

This piece was created to visually represent how we as humans so easily allow others to dive right into our minds. We allow their opinions, their words, their negativity to get deep down within us. Yet, it is us who suffer in silence, we become ill, stressed, depressed! Let's close our minds to that negativity and only allow positive thoughts in. 🥰

They look marvelous! All the luck in the world with your shop @My Strawberry Monkey!

I used to sell with various Etsy niche shops up until 2021. I don’t know how accustom you are with Etsy in general but Etsy does not make it clear to clients that if they open a case against you, Etsy does not quickly  notify the seller to intervene and sort the issue. The result is that you’re getting a bad review (which cannot be overturned), and lose the fight against the client even if it’s his fault, because from my experience, Etsy always sides with the buyer. Happened to me to get a 1* star review with the reason “I opened a case against the seller but they didn’t reply in 2 days etc” — that’s because the seller has no idea! I found being of great importance that every post to have a message like “if anything goes wrong, do not hesitate to contact me personally, etc etc”

But these are things you know already too well — good luck again with the shop!

    Thank You @iuli

I've heard of many cases like yours, It definitely feels like more protection is needed for sellers. Whatever platform you're on, unfortunately there will always be those who seek to take advantage, both sellers and buyers. Sorry to hear about your experience, I've seen similar feedback across multiple platforms including this forum. People love to complain, no matter what. Even if you go out of your way to support your customer, negative feedback will happen at some point. Unfortunately we can't please the world...

Thanks for your suggestions, currently working on my seller message!

  4. Somehow I feel like this thread is becoming my personal diary! 😂 Anyway, years ago long before Affinity came into my life I tried creating some motivational quotes wall prints, bought a printer, the whole set up. it was sooooooo stressful, mainly due to me not knowing what I was doing and having major issues with colour accuracy from Photoshop and Illustrator. Looks like I may have come back round to the idea of wall art, this time for kids though, currently testing out some prints:

  5. Where would Strawberry Monkey be without all the strong, successful women in his life? #internationalwomensday

When I first started this journey all but one of my characters were male, it wasn't intentional, it was just my default. It sounds odd now, but I didn't think about female characters. I remember reading an article about diversity and female characters in children’s literature and that had a massive impact on the direction of the books. There are now more female than male characters, one of whom is Dr Horse. I want young girls growing up to be inspired and show them that they can be whoever they want and this is why I started to create more female positive role models.

    Hey Allan,

Just wondering what did you use to build the website?

    S

Hi Sam, I used Affinity Designer for all the vector work then exported as .svg to use in Adobe Muse which is now a end of life app, so looking to switch at some point to Without Code or WebFlow...

    Ohhh, very nice! thumbup1.gif

Thanks Alfred! it was a hard decision as she was one of the very first characters. She looks a little more grown up and more feminine now, which is what I wanted to achieve as most of my characters were initially male. And I always struggled with her eyes and why they were always close, that's now been resolved. Learnt a lot in recreating a main character.
