  1. Hi @Slashee the Cow I think an easy and quick way would be, with all the shapes selected, to use Expand Stroke, then use Boolean Add, then use Boolean Divide. You still have to select each shape to apply color afterwards. Video below: IMG_1235.MP4
  2. The level of details in this design is outstanding even compared to the more complex pieces shared here over time. Out of curiosity, how many hours did it take to complete this piece (approximately)?
  3. Hi @walt.farrell, I think it’s a relevant request especially because we don’t have Publisher for iPad (yet). On desktop if you need text support you go and purchase Publisher — problem solved (assuming Affinity Publisher has support for Romanian language on desktop, which I don’t know) . But the iPad-only users are forced to work with no text support at all (for any language, as you said), and have no alternative for better text support either. All the best!
  4. I’m going to save this 3 artboards file for when Studiolink will come to iPad this summer (assuming it will work similar to its desktop counterpart). I have (had) some experience with Indesign but I know Publisher is a different story and I will need all the help I could get in these forums. This is valuable information for me. (Sorry for intruding in your discussion)
  5. Sorry for missing your reply @walt.farrell @Alfred already explained that we’re always starting with Acrylics brushes, and that there’s no workaround for it. All the best!
  6. @walt.farrell Thank you, that is a great suggestion. I have reported this bug in 2019 @awakenedbyowls. I hope this helps.
  7. You don’t want to spare any node Mr Overington! (That swirl has so many nodes because you probably made it with the pencil tool and exported it without applying “expand stroke” — SVG tends to apply nodes like that for non-expanded vector curves upon export, edit — as you know).
  8. Hi @pixelburger As far as I know, we cannot set default brushes on iPad. It always resets to “Acrylics” after closing the document.
  9. Please consider adding Romanian language support for Text Studio. (“Feedback for the Affinity Suite of Products” should have been a better place for this topic, as it’s not an Affinity Designer-only issue, so if a mod sees this request please move it to its more appropriate place. Thanks in advance!)
  10. Please have in mind the translation of Affinity interface into Romanian Language.
  11. Are you sure that’s not after shave ice?
  12. I apologize @walt.farrell it’s not your fault. I feel it’s strange that I have to spend time this way. I posted what I think it’s a bug (because no matter the circumstances, that’s not normal behavior for grouping shapes). If a mod thinks it is, OK, if not, close the topic altogether? I do not argue with you that there are easy workarounds for this, but as I said, this bug is not limited to objects physically outside of the artboards. As an iPad only user I have encounter this exact bug many times over the years, in normal conditions (all objects inside the artboards), but that’s not easy to catch and record because it is happening sporadically. It’s also part of my workflow to work in certain way, well aware of the limitations of the iPad. Anyway, water under the bridge. All the best.
  13. @walt.farrell I understand that, but they’re visually within the borders. I still don’t believe this is normal behavior by Serif standards. Sometimes grouping work, sometimes is a mess, hence I’m reporting it as a bug. Edit: sometimes the same error happens with all shapes within the borders, just not as often. Being in separate layers is sometimes, but rarely, enough (only if dealing with text though). Will sure make a new entry if I stumble upon a file that behaves like that and the bug can be replicated.
  14. @walt.farrell “Do you mean they are visually within the Artboard” — yes, as shown in the video, all shapes are visually inside the artboard but physically both in and out of it (not my best wording, sorry).
  15. Hi, I don’t think this bug has been reported before. It is not document-specific. Attempting to group shapes or texts that are both in and out an artboard, despite all of them being positioned inside the artboard, will almost always result in a random relocation of said objects (plus that “shape-cutting ugly bug” which fortunately doesn’t destroy the shapes permanently). Different constraint panel settings render the same results. It may not look like much when working with few objects, but when dealing with hundreds of files — it is. Video and test file below. All the best! Off-topic edit, for some reason the files I upload have no details like I see in other posts, and also my account seems to lack various features, such us when I was logged in the last time or what topic I’m watching in real time. It’s not bothering me, but it doesn’t look good either. IMG_1210.MOV artboard-group-bug.afdesign
  16. Hi @CJRM, It takes some time to open but it does! Zoom in/out takes a bit and any interaction with the text freezes, and eventually crashes, the app, but it’s impressive that such a big document is even being opened on iPads at all! Especially because new M1 iPad models are supposed to let apps access at least 6GBRam, but unfortunately Affinity apps are still locked at 3GBram. I’ve started a topic about low ram access on Affinity for M1 iPad six months ago, and a mod replied that the devs are aware. The hope remains that bringing Publisher to the iPad in the summer (accompanied by Studiolink) will change things for the better. All the best!
  17. @walt.farrell Sorry for the confusion, I meant (edit) drag & drop IMG_1206.MOV
  18. Many thanks! I will save them for the day when Serif will finally let us import palettes in Affinity for iPad. Now even vectornator let its users to import unlimited palettes, even directly from Procreate. Affinity is the only serious graphic editor which lacks such important feature for iPads. One can only hope that with the arrival of Affinity Publisher things will finally change.
  19. @walt.farrell I have no issue using the Files app/iCloud combo either importing files from affinity or via the share function of the Files app itself. I reinstalled AP and it’s the same, no issues, so besides the things you already have tried yourself like hard rebooting iPad, or upgrading to the latest version of the app/iPadOS etc, I have no idea what could be the cause. Dragging the files in Photo from iCloud Drive using the multitasking window is, as you already know, probably the best way to deal with this issue for now. All the best!
  20. @iconoclast That’s really cool results! Reminds me of “halftoner by studio2am” (combined with a posterize layer) which my partner is using extensively in their work. You’re right about blurs being very important to the final result when using similar techniques to “halftoner” (there are myriads of them available for Adobe, very few for Affinity so far unfortunately; while they can be imported to Affinity software, it’s little customization available because scripts cannot work outside Adobe). Thanks for sharing with us! I apologize for disrupting your fantastic giveaway @StuartRc ; thank you for your great effort (again!).
  21. @OC3 Edit — You’re right, pen, pencil, and shapes tools are definitely the only way to work to be sure nothing gets rasterized. Both transparency and fill gradients get rasterized when exporting (as SVG, for example — but, as you know, this is not Affinity’s fault, all vector software I know of act the same). What I know for sure is that I cannot use any kind of fx when dealing with vector files for cutting machines — but for other uses (such as making art for printing, etc) many Affinity ‘vector’ brushes (even if they are raster files applied on vector curves) are high quality and can be resized many times until they get pixelated. I think that you should experiment, export at the desired size, compare results etc. Sorry for not being of any help — all the best!
