When editing text, the toolbar changes to quick access of common text options. What I'd like to see is more use of that space. On my screen there is plenty of room (nearly half the width is currently blank) so I'd like to see the options added from the Typography panel (Figure Position, Capitals). I often use All Caps in InDesign, and that button is in it's control panel for quick access. Currently with Publisher there's just a button to open the Typography button so it's an extra step; it would be great if they had quick access buttons like InDesign. Options like this are even buried in the Character Panel, unlike InDesign which has them right near the top. Unless I'm missing it, maybe someone can point it out to me. It just that little things like this add up over time and slow me down. Thanks!

There are tons of foreign language fonts installed by macOS. Starting with Catalina, there is no way the manually remove them anymore. However, Apple made it so they don't show up in the font menus of typical Mac apps. One exception is Affinity apps. For example, see how many of this one font is clogging up my font menu: I found this 2017 thread here and it ends with "We have now resolved the problem and will make the fix available in the next iPad & Mac release." Maybe this is a regression? I originally posted in this thread, but the problem is also in the betas so I hope it's okay that I reposted here to hopefully get more attention.

Hide foreign language fonts

For example, see how many of this one font is clogging up my font menu: That font isn't even listed in FontBook. It's only one example. There are a lot. Please make the Affinity apps behave like other apps with these fonts, or at least provide an option. Thanks!

Regarding Apple's Photos, my personal opinion is that while there is a lot of like about it, there are still many ways in which it's inferior to iPhoto and there are some basic features it still doesn't have that iPhoto had for years. I finally had to give up iPhoto a little over a year ago and still miss it. For instance, I have to use a third-party script to auto name and number photos, something iPhoto did from day one. Apple is not interested it adding that back in, and I've reported on it many times. I see very little new features added from year to year. iPhoto seemed to get a lot more attention back when it was not bundled with the OS. It seems like every year they change or add more ways to view/browse photos while ignoring other areas that need improving. I still think the interface is lacking and less streamlined than iPhoto. I hate the "back" button. P.S. I don't use the editing extension but can understand the frustration. However I agree that some people keep stomping their feet and throwing digital hissy fits claiming Serif is not listening blah blah blah when clearly they are, and have stated the fix will arrive in version 1.8. Just be patient. Or find something else.

I've seen Affinity moderators on here report that that is indeed a missing feature at this time.

I agree with every you say, and especially this. The conversion is happening without my knowledge - baffling to me that anyone would want this.

Agreed. I wouldn't expect any of my swatch values to change if I pasted them into another document; going to CMYk to CMYK, it should stay the same value.

New Document Window Display Issues
Jeremy Bohn replied to Murfee's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on macOS threads
That happens to me as well. Also 27 inch monitor. I'd like it to keep the size I set it to. Also, File > Close affects the window BEHIND the New Document window. Since New Document is the active window, the Close command should close the New Document window. -
Wholeheartedly agreed, Anjux. I can think of many instances where I would never need something cropped non-destructively. Also in many cases it would be more efficient, smaller file sizes etc. The option should be there.

Suggestions for "New Document" window

Funny, because Adobe has this behaviour down pat. With them, once you click the link, the first value is the master value. -
Suggestions for "New Document" window

That was an example. See the recording below. If I change the inner margin to 5, then click the link button, nothing changes. The link button means make all 4 boxes the same value. The link button does nothing if you click it AFTER you type in a value. It only actually works if you click the link BEFORE and then change one of the values. Suggestions for "New Document" window

Then they need to make a way to change just the page size like you could before. -
There's a lot to like about the new New Document window. However, I can see some room for improvements: 1. You should be able to resize the window. I have a large monitor and would like it bigger so I can see more without scrolling. 2. Popup menus should respect the dark mode setting. Currently they're light even though I'm using dark mode. 3. Most of the settings are wiped out if you pick a different page size. For instance, I set up a Letter sized document, set it to use Picas, set my margins and bleed, and if I click on the Legal thumbnail on the left, it resets all of those things. I should be able to change to a preset page size without wiping out my other settings. 4. The "link" to set Inner/Outer/Top/Bottom the same in Margins/Bleed should take affect as soon as you click it. For example, right now if you have them unlinked and all set to 0, if you change one to 5 and then click the link, they end up being 5, 0, 0, 0 which isn't right if they're supposed to be linked.

Then please explain what you are trying to put a border on. Your post is not clear. -

Did you look in the Stroke panel? Unless you want to format a Text Frame in which case look in the Text Frame panel. -

Font weight listing is very confusing to work with
Jeremy Bohn replied to abarkalo's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
The InDesign way is clearly superior. It organizes the families more logically and using the same word "sample" for comparison is much better too. -
Icon bounces and app comes to foreground
Jeremy Bohn replied to bnational's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
There's an alert that says "External application is reading file" which pops ups and then quickly goes away.
