  1. Totally agree with your comments, why would adobe put that features there which makes things worst, and not all designer will have discreet type of gpu on our system, specially if you are a apple user like me. And most of us designer, we are always thrilled and love to see straight away and right away the beauty of what our design should come up. I am a designer for 10years now, and it has to be beauty and awesome in any angle or situation I am doing, even though I am working on draft, it always runs in my mind what it will be look like and it should be nice even in draft. of course not all of you will agree, its a matter of personal references. But anyway, dev of Affinity really saluted you with it. And one thing I really love is, opening a huge file for example i am doing a company or menu catalog which size about 1-2gig of illustrator file, in AI it will takes bloody several minutes to open, and sometimes stuck in the middle of something when it tries to load those fonts, but in Affinity Designer, opening the same file of AI just merely a minutes or not even a minutes. I dont know how AD did this but its awesome and wonderful. Feels more confident using AD. Feels you are using a high end PC or Apple. Feels breeze and fast doing work. Kudos to dev. and more power. If I am just a millionaire I will give a million dollars investment on Affinity to develop more and more software like, Affinity Codes (vs Adobe Dreamweaver) or Affinity DesignCode (vs Adobe Muse), or Affinity LitRoom (vs Adobe Lightroom) or Affinity FX ( vs Adobe After Effects) which I always on use, or Affinity Wave (vs Affinity Audition) or Affinity Crux (vs Adobe Experience Design). Definitely I will invest. heheh wait for my Stock and Forex Trading success then I will surely invest with Affinity.
  2. Thanks. Now must of my design are slowly now diverting from Illy to AD, sometimes a little confusing on my side, since I am a very heavy illy user, though some of the tools and shortcut keys are almost the same but some are not so mixing those in my head is funny, executing something what i am intended but then different result since its not the same shortcut keys. hehehe. anyway all is in adjustment and practise. though most of the time the workflow are PHOTOSHOP for complicated manipulation to AFFINITY PHOTO for superb enhancement then AFFINITY DESIGN for everything that will comminicate to costumers from typo to colours to poping out possible clients interest.
  3. Thats aslo what I am looking for, similar on what i am asking about the node. And also for the AD and AP. Check out my post about: Using NODE TOOLS as for DIRECT SELECTION TOOLS of ILLLY is buggy or what?? here is my video maybe you will encounter this also: youtube.com/watch?v=yT5ILJt1RNE youtube.com/watch?v=yIZqcs5CVgw
  4. Thanks for the reply. I am totally agree and loving your approach actually, but as you said there is always room for improvement. You dont have to copy and be like them, Affinity is unique on its own, we designer starting to love it and eventually MARK MY WORD it will be one or atleast become industry standard in graphic design related field of works. But as I am trying to explore its tools, Node Tools is not totally a bug or something it is what is it, but it will help if it can do something more that it used to be. check my attachment to atleast see what I think will add to its strength. Once again, keep up the good work.
  5. I am not sure if anyone already think or tried and compare the DIRECT SELECTION TOOLS with NODE TOOLS of AD. MY PREVIOUS POST ON BUGS ON MAC: contents below I have made exactly the same project with affinity and illustrator well of course pictures and images are just copy and paste but the elements from circle and such are created exactly the same as Illy. then here is the painful and difficulty I have encounter. The node tools, is it direct selection tools equivalent, if it is, why i cant select any direct object disregarding any group or mask, so directly selecting and right away you can edit or resize or move or reposition the element, or image you are directly selecting. but in affinity wow how really hard it is. you have to doble click to go inside and inside and inside of multiple group within the group within the group and so on then this image is inside the masked. Anyway most designer will understand what i am telling. check the vids, and you will notice my mouse pointer shakes when it didnt do what i am expecting to do. Better watch first the first video same project using Affinity Designer, then next video is using Illustrator. youtube.com/watch?v=yT5ILJt1RNE youtube.com/watch?v=yIZqcs5CVgw But there is always a work around, which is simply double click or keep on clicking until you are now inside of the group of the group and so on then you are now on the main image or element you are trying to reposition or selecting. Ofcourse if the Node Tools will simply do the not only just the anchor points (im using adobe term here) when you want to reposition or adjust, but also the image or the pixel image will almost complete the purpose of NODE Tools therefore will work not just NODE TOOLS but as DIRECT SELECTION TOOL. Make things much easy. I also found out that unlike in illustrator we used to used masking by using cliping mask by pressing CTRL+7/Cmmnd+7 to basically make the main image you want to be encapsulated inside the shape layer whatever it shape, in AD if you do that by using layer then select the upper layer then rightlick then select mask below, then whatever image that is below of that above layer that layer below will be inside of the shape layer. AD all you have to do is just drag the any layer (image or element) unto the layer in which you want to be inside of that layer. In this case it will be easy for you to resize or reposition whatever images/element that are inside of the main layer. but it is still you need to double click the layer until you will be inside of that layer you want to reposition or resize or simply use the layer tools then directly select the layer you want to resize or reposition. but again if nodetools cans simply do the direct selection will be awesome and makes things much faster. So once again, it will be very complete and become much more complete tools as the NODETOOLS will be used, or maybe inside of the NODETOOLS will be cycle or it has inside another tools which will be running same like as DIRECT SELECTION TOOLS of ILLY that we can call something like SELECT DIRECT or DIRECT SELECT just to avoid Adobe Illy terminology on their tools. Hope my fellow designer out there will realize this if every they never come up with this problem. heheh maybe they where busy with its other exciting feature on doing a test run for their design and overlooked this simple tools that have to have.
  6. Hi thanks for feedbacks. Yep better I will request this features. 7. Here what I have made this day as of Feb 16, 2017 for the banner promotion for my clients here in Brunei Darussalam. Made with Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo for image enhancement and some photo editing and photo manipulation. The images are not on it real plate I have to manipulate the image to be realistic on its fake plates. http://sta.sh/01gy06jvczd4
  8. Hi its my first post on this subject Features Request, You can check my other post on share on Affinity strength on industry world, fight back to back with Illustrator page. Anyway I am a heavy Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illy user and most of my workflow are ended with this two prominent apps. And I want to let loose and be freed with this monopolising the design industries. Affinity was an escape and really excited on my first use and did my current project for some restaurant and corporate companies and they where satisfied and the project are ready for printings and distribution. Anyway one of the first thing most transferee designer such as I, will quickly notice the beauty and strength of this beautiful Affinity Desinger/Photo application. But quickly be setbacks by the first run. First of all, as a designer aside from checking the proper Colour Mode or Profile on documents or artboard, and also for DPI or pixel and resolution configuration, we are or I am always on first run checking the Canvas size or Artboard size. In affinity Design the Artboard is awesome and Adobe Illy this artboard configuration of AD this thing is what you should have for so long when you created Illy. I think most of my fellow designer will agree on it or maybe not. Some are purely personal preference anyway, but for me I really like it the logic behind with it. creating artboard sizes is almost on the fly and really really a breeze. But here comes the hard part and pain and diffuculty for the side of Affinity Designer/Photo, is the Canvas. i was hoping that there will be an option almost the same when you created an artboard. it seems artboard and canvas configuration are totally different processes here. The sizing is awesome and you can change it anytime with those bleeding and margin but duplicating it to have more canvas is no where to find. In illy all you have to do is click or go to document setup then from there you can edit the canvas which is basically the artboard of the illy, and creating additional canvas/artboard is totally easy, it is the same logic process as duplicating exact element or image on the fly with combination of ALT+move mouse in any position while holding the left click. you can create or duplicate as many as you want as long it will fit on the total area capacity of illy. But on AD, it is totally nothing. But in AD is not possible (I dont want to be some sort of comparing illy or favoring the Illy Just trying to remove to my system, my mind and my computer the illy dependeny) Most of designer specially when creating multiple pages like company profiles, menus, flyers and such are dependent on this features. If there is a way or if there is a configuration that this same logic processes of creating artboard will be also incorporated on canvas that you can create multiple pages or you can select multiple canvas size basically same as artboard processes will be very very very awesome We want affinity be unique and I believe Affinity dev are not in any way of copying something from these monopolised apps, I think it has to has multiple canvas capability as procedure and easiness of the artboards. Or just remove the canvas option and go straight on artboard so when you first run it, you will create new documents then artboard is already there as usual and capable of any size and any numbers, but with this, is capable of saving multiple pages like on PDF which most printing company and corporate world become their standard of documents. I know you get what i mean. More power and loving your creation Affinity.
  9. Hi thank you for response. I didnt import the file from illustrator, I have made two separate file, i worked with illustrator and affinity designer, with identical design. So literally i was able and managed to group exactly the same hierarchy the same way I did on illustrator. The purpose of doing the same exactly instead of simply importing the file from illustrator to AD is I want to be really confidence enought that my strength on designing using the tools on Illy will be the same with AD. Try do it on your design with lots of group and group within the group and with those group there is this mask images on a certain shape layers, then try direct selection tools or the NODE TOOLS equivalent of illy then you will see what I am trying to explain. I wondered why the link of youtube was not included on my post. any way here it is. youtube.com/watch?v=yT5ILJt1RNE and just follow the next video
  10. I am new to this forum and its my first post on this subject. I have been on graphic design works in industries for a very long time, from printings and multimedia to design and digital. And most of the works are done with 2 major application that most of us heavy designer can complete the both worlds, the big giant Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. you can leave those other apps like indisign and lightroom and so on, if you know how to use this tools from Illy and Photoshop your good to go and completes everything. Last 2 days ago i have tried Affinity Design and Photo for my clients and the products are ready for dispatch for offset printings. You can check it on Share Your Work, and look for Affinity strength on industry world, fight back to back with Illustrator my post. And for me I am really quite satisfied and amazed how I finished my work as good or maybe better than what I am expected. And I am really really glad that atlast I will be out of this Adobe Jailed CC. lol. (pardon me adobe but susbscription for your CC what!!!!!) anyway long story short, I have love the workflow of affinity photo to affinity design but there is a lot thing AFFINITY DEV need to check. I am posting the video for you to check what I am trying to tell. I have made exactly the same project with affinity and illustrator well of course pictures and images are just copy and paste but the elements from circle and such are created exactly the same as Illy. then here is the painful and difficulty I have encounter. The node tools, is it direct selection tools equivalent, if it is, why i cant select any direct object disregarding any group or mask, so directly selecting and right away you can edit or resize or move or reposition the element, or image you are directly selecting. but in affinity wow how really hard it is. you have to doble click to go inside and inside and inside of multiple group withing the group withing the group and so on then this image is inside the masked. Anyway most designer will understand what i am telling. check the vids, and you will notice my mouse pointer shakes when it didnt do what i am expecting to do. Better watch first the first video same project using Affinity Designer, then next video is using Illustrator. if it doesnt show try this copy and paste youtube.com/watch?v=yT5ILJt1RNE youtube.com/watch?v=yIZqcs5CVgw
  11. Thanks, actually i have made one also using (you know the AdobePhotoshop) but that one was done with Affinity Photo. No need to post, it exactly the same and where displaying the strength of Affinity on industry. Actually I am struggling with proper angle perspective when I edit it, because in Photoshop we can use the vanishing point features, I dont know yet if Affinity Photo has the same features, so what I did is just create a bunch of line using proper perspective point from the images then use it as reference, anyway thats the vanishing point in manual creation. I am not sure if Affinity has plan to have the same features. It will be very very helpful. As for shadows and such, just do a pint job with some references from the drop shadow effects of the affinity photo then paint a shadow to make it more realistic, referencing the actual shadow that you can see on the glass of plant.
  12. Here is my other client for their exhibit launching at Brunei Convention Centre. All done in Ad and AP. Later on, I will post my trouble or what other tweak or adjustment or such that Affinity dev should attend to.
  13. The images is done with AD for the entire design sample of the restaurant menu, then using Affinity Photo to create it and manipulate it on another image the table inside the restaurant, place it on tabe as mockup sample of what it will be on real world once it is printed. Affinity Photo really did a good job there. I have a little fiddle around again to finaly finish it satisfyingly.
