  1. Not much to say about this whimsical piece, expect that I enjoyed working with the reduced colours and detail
  2. This gargoyle is resisting the urge to chomp on that curious pigeon. Trying out a couple of different light sources in this design, and trying to evoke a chunky, chiselers quality in the rocky form of the gargoyle. Also had fun coming up with a very simple, geometric form to describe the pigeon. Sketched in Procreate and finished in Affinity Designer. All feedback welcome!
  3. I wanted to give this character a sense of solidity; like he’s not gonna budge for anything. I really enjoy working in flat colour, and focusing on the shape and quality of the line work. This guy is worked up from a rough sketch in Procreate, pretty much the way I typically work. Feedback welcome!
  4. An interpretation of a Norse god. Skadi is associated with bow hunting, skiing, winter and mountains. For this particular design, I tried to capture a sense of speed and power, where the character bursts into frame. The sharp edges are also evocative of icicles and the crystal-like properties of ice. Also making use of the stroke properties that allow me to ‘taper’ the line, one of my favourite techniques.
  5. Ha! Yeah, well spotted. Cheers, for some reason that spelling has been bamboozling me, let’s try again...
  6. They look amazing! Designer in conjunction with Photo?
  7. The stippling effect works, definitely evocative of a zoological illustration!
  8. Have you tried to see how it works in one colour; in the case of limited reproduction options and/or limitations?
  9. It looks good. All you need to improve, are the desire to keep on drawing (that itch), and an artist or better yet artists whose style you admire, and can emulate
  10. Nice and clean indeed! Which typeface are you using (like that lowercase ‘t’)
  11. An old entry for a Character Design Challenge. I imagined it as an old school game cover.
  12. Coming back to this, because it could be a real game changer for me, and the difference between the quality of Illustrator and Designer. The fidelity of strokes need to be maintained when Expanding Strokes. So far it doesn’t seem to be the case for Designer on iOS. Strokes, especially tapered versions lose their smooth edges after expanding, which absolutely need to be maintained when working on something as precise as a logo.
  13. Thanks for the work around Paul, would still like to see the developers fix it though
  14. Expanding strokes has unexpected results. This is awkward if you can’t reliably convert strokes with weight variance, especially for something like a logo that you’ll want to distribute as a fully outlined, no-fuss PDF (see vid below) 6E588D56-26D1-4044-947A-0F87042D8BB8.MOV
  15. Actually, just on this, is there a way to simultaneously move the far right and far left nodes so they're exactly level? Basically I want to be able to control wether the mid node is above or below the outer nodes (while the outers are at equal heights)
  16. Yeah, got a quick reply, cheers! cant believe I didn't think of putting in a middle node on the pressure curve
  17. I’m having trouble applying a nice, smooth varied weight stroke on shapes. Where the two end nodes connect, there’s no even transition, am I missing something? (screenshot below)
  18. Is there a way to vote for what new features might be implemented?
  19. Apologies @MEB, you did.Just excitement at the prospect of additional path editing tools, meant my brain glossed over that point too quickly
  20. I need these features too btw, ready to leave Illustrator behind
  21. Your suggestion for 2, erasing the path, really is a workaround, and not a substitute for preserving the original path qualities
