Having the same problem - worked fine until the 2.1 upgrade. Affinity just locks up when you try to save back to it.

The new update breaks the Nik collection plugins. They no longer have a save option to go back to Affinity, you have to save the image as an external file. This is ironic because Nik v6 has just introduced an integrated installation procedure that auto-detects Affinity Photo. It worked perfectly with 2.0 but with 2.1 no good. I'm on a MacOS 15 M1 Mac mini.
I haven't tried reinstalling Nik 6 yet(my next step) I'll update if that fixes things, but it really shouldn't be necessary!

EDIT: I reinstalled Nik but it made no difference. No Save/Cancel just "Save preset".
Does anyone know how to roll-back an Affinity "upgrade" to the previous version?
EDIT2: I rolled Nik 6 back to version 5. It works with Affinity 2.1 The usual Cancel/Brush/Apply buttons show up. So it only seems to be an issue between Affinity 2.1 and Nik v6 (I just reinstalled Nik 6 and it still doesn't work.) Since it seems to be Nik 6 specific I'll post an issue on the Nik forum too and see if anyone there has a workaround.
EDIT3: I found the original Affinity 2.0 dmg file so have reinstalled that and Nik6 is working happily again. Since there was nothing in update 2.1 that I really needed I'll work with this until I hear that there is a solution.

    Hi All,
An update to the beta has just been made available which we are expecting to be the build we release publicly very soon! This means you can update your beta version to be the same code as what we will be our initial public release of 2.1.
We will therefore now have a period where the latest beta version is the same as the release version. That will remain the case until we begin a fresh beta which will either be a patch to 2.1 if we feel it's needed, or hopefully moving straight to the first beta of 2.2. At that point you will be able to update the beta versions you currently have installed for that latest update to test.
During the period that 2.1.0.1799 is in sync with the release build (when 2.1 is made public) it's up to you if you want to continue to report any bugs in the beta forums or the main bug reporting forums.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for being so actively involved with the testing of 2.1 - along with all the new features and improvements we have got through a huge number of fixes, and that's only been possible with having so many of you putting it through it's paces. It's made a huge difference, and we're very much looking forward to working with you all on the next beta!
    All the best,
    Ash

    Hi All,
Excited to say this week's build is what we consider to be our first release candidate for 2.1. This means we are now at a stage where we are avoiding making any significant changes the code before release (unless we find some critical issue which must be fixed of course).
Fixes since the last beta build are in this post.
    Thanks,
    Ash

    New commission: Winnie.
I was nervous about this one, as I’ve never done a portrait of a dog before that was just one colour, but I actually really enjoyed it in the end, picking out all the brown, grey, and even purple tones in the sheen of the fur.
Have to say, the smudge tool was essential in creating that fur effect!

    Thanks AiDon
So frustraiting seeing that I have a SpyderCHECKR 24 sitting beside me on the table. Great to hear that they are working on it though! I might try and return this passport and order the x-Rite one. I have never used a ICC file. Would have to look into how that works.

*Update* I am assuming that when you said "The Spyder Checker software now can be used to produce an ICC Profile as I mentioned in this thread:"
you where actually refering to the x-rite software. Is that correct?

    Hi vrooney,

There is a known crash when printing a document that contains embedded documents of a different colour profile. Does your document have these in? If so could you try rasterising those layers prior to printing - that should allow you to send the job to the printer.

We've got a brand new set of tutorials that follow a more structured approach and are sorted into logical categories. You can access them by following this link:

Please note that the previous thread is now considered legacy and has been unpinned. The videos linked in the thread are also considered legacy—they will remain accessible (albeit unlisted) but ultimately my goal is to produce suitable replacements over time using the new studio setup with live mixing and picture-in-picture. There's been a clear increase in quality of teaching and production values since Affinity Photo was first released back in 2015, and we hope to continue this moving forward.

Are footnotes and endnotes currently possible (besides manually creating them, of course)? I haven't found them so far.
If not, this is a feature that I think would be widely used. I suspect it may take some time to get right if it is not yet under development, so I would understand if it is not a day-1 feature.
