    Chris,
Here is a list of capabilities which would make the 'Resize Document' work efficiently:
    • Percentage should be added as an option in the resize unit choice
    • A reset button is often needed
    • Results should be shown live - without need for tab (enter closes the window)
    • The pixel dimensions and print dimensions should be shown together (attached sample).
All professional graphic designers (or their employees) spend a LOT of time resizing images for use in Publisher or InDesign, we need to administer the settings in one place as quickly as possible, to see that the application has calculated everything OK enter, then get on to the next picture.
We would like the Affinity Resize tool to be as good as other apps, if possible better, but as it is, 'resize image 'in Affinity is inferior to all others.

Nobody from Affinity has ever related specifically to the resize INTERFACE problem, being such a major issue, (not just a fix) - we would expect that Affinity would have read in great detail and concern, and related to so many important posts in each different forum categories, none of which have been seriously contributed to by Affinity. We are waiting to hear that Affinity understood the issue by relating to it specifically in any detail. We are worried that you may fix the technical bug but not improve the interface to make it at all useable for graphic designers and publishers, I feel that Affinity is either still completely unaware of this huge issue, or just not willing to discuss it. If Affinity was to search and read all posts on the resize document unusability - they would have redesigned the resize interface long ago.

Mark, we deserve response about the mac version, such major fundamental flaws in resize needs to be addressed, we have been patient, but affinity can’t continue ignoring our concerns,    This has created too much frustration, and if it is not addressed Affinity will not be adopted by its largest market section potential.

davemike got a reaction from CLC in Re-size document bug -- serious!
The Affinity team must be made to realize that the fundamental issue here is not the bug, even if it worked according to design, the whole concept of the resize function is bad, absolutely unusable for graphic professionals, publishers, advertising agencies. None of us can use it, but we need to, many times a day. This means that thousands of professionals cannot move over from Adobe to the Affinity trio. This message must find it's way to the decision-makers at Affinity, (somehow).

davemike got a reaction from CLC in Re-size document bug -- serious!
I have been complaining that the resize document function is very poorly designed for years now, the Affinity team has never taken this complaint seriously, even though it is the biggest single drawback to using Affinity. Graphic Design studios Publishing companies etc. who are currently using the Adobe trio, cannot possibly switch over to Affinity, even now that Affinity Publisher is out. We need to resize documents efficiently all and every day for use afterwards in 'Indesign' or could-have-been 'Publisher'. Affinity photo 'concept' for resizing is seriously lacking functions, rendering it useless. The Affinity resize document also has a bug, so it doesn't work even according to design, but this doesn't really matter because graphics professionals have to use other applications to resize anyway. Affinity has not responded seriously to this topic which has been read by thousands of users, but not appropriately understood by Affinity, I would advise them to look deep and understand what is wrong and lacking in the resize document function. AND NOT JUST FIX THE BUG!.
Please look at this recent topic. (Affinity

Nzario, I share your frustration and this is what I would like to add:
Only now that Affinity Publisher has been released can magazines, design studios, advertising agencies, etc. consider replacing the Adobe trio with the Affinity suite. Because of flaws in Affinity Photo such as and especially the “Resize Document” these industries cannot possibly consider the Affinity as a viable alternative. Resizing needs to be efficient, with settings which allow intuitive, on-the-spot, precise control for feasible workflow.
The fact that the Affinity Photo tools which entail sizing have been so lacking right from the outset, and that criticism concerning the expediency of these tools was not seriously addressed by Serif in the forums since November 2014, leads me to believe that the Affinity set was perhaps never really intended to compete with Adobe, It must have been clear to Affinity that especially businesses such as hi-end magazines could not possibly use the essential Resize Document tool.
We have tried posting in feature requests, bugs, and this forum - there must be another "channel" to address our concerns, and to which Affinity would relate!?

The worst possibility is that it is of design (but with a simple bug, which means they will never reconsider the overall inadequacy of the design - so we will still prefer photoshop for resizing.

The "Resize Document" procedure has been intentionally designed this way, and it is not considered to be a bug. Unfortunately there is is a huge misconception and misunderstanding on the behalf of the Affinity Photo team, regarding necessary functions required by photo editors and designers. We need to be able to change size versus resolution, while we make the decisions of what we aim for, but the application should make the necessary calculations, Photoshop "Resize Document" has had it right for many years, I think that Affinity should have realized this and tried to produce similar results, it was clear from the 1st A.P. that they got it wrong, and now they are continuing to develop the app based on the same mistake. (the crop tool also suffers in part from the same fundamental flaw).  Please re-think the approach based on functionality, flexibility, accuracy, user-friendliness. BTW Some of my associates (and probably many more) are still using Photoshop just for resizing documents (and cropping) while using Affinity photo for the rest of the job. I am not sure that this is the best place to post this request, perhaps future requests?

Please completely redo the "Resize Document" feature.
It does NOT work as it should, "by design" because its design conception was completely wrong from day one, and now in v. 1.7 has evolved to become a major problem.
I and others have reported this as a bug, but Affinity has closed this as "Designed". The resize tool was designed without the features necessary for correct functionality and should be redone from scratch to be similar to the correct settings (as in Photoshop). There are many lengthy discussions on this topic in the forums.

I'm not prepared to suffer all that, rather than getting frustrated and irritated each time I resize a photo (which is between 1-20 per day) I have decided never to do that task in AP,  I don’t believe they will ever re-program that feature, which was doomed from the beginning, I don't believe that they are unaware of its shortcomings.

    Friends, artists, peers,
I agree that the Affinity team needs to understand our concerns properly, but unfortunately, they are convinced that the approach they took on "Resizing Document" was correct from the outset, and they will not realize that it is fundamentally misconceived. They do not address the users requirements correctly, somehow they must come to understand by example, that the solution provided by Photoshop's correct and that they should aim for the same functionality. The Affinity team is under the misconception that we users are just used to Photoshop by habit, and we should get accept the AP approach. Affinity needs to put together a suitable brainstorming team that will come up with the correct solution by looking outside their own self-made box instead of hammering nails into it, even though this will involve candid modesty and a lot of re-programming. They need to start by properly studying Photoshop's approach and the users' real needs.
I don't know which is the best forum to post this perhaps you can post it where you think it may be read by the most appropriate people

Yet another update without upgrading the crop tool.
I and several others have been complaining (ever since the first Affinity Photo beta) that the crop tool lacks crucial and obvious features.
None of our regular requests are ever approached.

The crop tool should be comprehensive, enabling resizing according to chosen proportions, size cm or pixels etc, and dpi - all in one place at one time.
There are other fully comprehensive crop tools in other apps. If you don't understand my requests - check out Photoshop crop tool for comparison.
I do all my cropping in photoshop, and sometimes return to Affinity.

What I need to be able to do is set the preset for 4cm x3cm at 150 dpi and then choose whatever part of the photo to crop.
So many people need to set a regular size for photos at a regular resolution, being free to choose any part of photo -
those professionals who need this done quickly, simply, in one go, in one tool multiple times per day, don't understand why, after so many requests, for so long, this has never been achieved, or attempted?

    Yes,
This simple recurring task has been easy, direct, quick and efficient in Photoshop for many years - a similar direct one-stop solution is needed in affinity.
Probably every user needs it occasionally, and many require it on multiple occasions every day. The crop tool hasn't been thoroughly thought out -
It would be nice if the crop tool was to be redesigned for user comfort and workflow.
So many other features in Affinity are so very advanced and considerate, this should be too.
