  1. Yes, this would be more than nice, this is neccessairy, if using two monitors and working with the workspace freefloating. It is more like a bug I think, that the panels are not alwyas on top. If I have a free floating workspace with several Project tabs and I change the project tab, the floating panels always dissapear. This is more than annoying. Also I can't dock the pane tabs to a free floating workspace, which makes no sense. Why working with free floating work-spaces, one might ask. I work on a 17inch 4k laptop which is wide, but small from top to bottom. So I have the main window in a full hd monitor above to have a larger workspace for the project. This requires floating workspaces. Also a bug: if I arrange the free floating workspace to fill the bottom monitor by clicking on the maximize symbol (windows) and change to another project tab, the window is allways smaller than I adjusted it. Even if I enlarged all project tabs. When I go back to the last tab, the window is small again.
  2. I would love to have the ability to create own categories for fonts and to assign my fonts to these categories. Maybe I'm not the only one with a ridiculous amount of fonts . I design crafting paper sets for different themes and need several fonts for different purposes. For example I would create a category for handwritten fonts, for romantic fonts, for bold gothic fonts, and so on. Because of the vast amount of fonts (and no, I really don't want to miss one of them ) I have to go through the 100m long list of fonts, that are sortet alphabetically. I love that I can see what the fonts look like, but if I find a good one, I would like to assign it to a category for later reuse. And it would be great, if I could assign each font to more than one category. As this kind of thing is database based, it shouldn't be so hart to built this, I hope. To the Affinity team: I love that you listen to the users. Many of the new changes in the actual beta version are things that used to annoy me, to. And I'm glad, you made it all better, this saves much time and a lot of klicking
  3. Hi folks, I had problems with ALL updates to 1.92 (photo, designer and publisher) Publisher simply was deinstalled after using the update! Photo and designer didn't work after the update because the *.exe were ereased. I tried again and the same problem occured. As I need to work professionally with the affinity suite, I tried to copy the photo.exe from the Beta-Version into the photo directory and now it works. This trick also works with designer. When starting the programm it shows the beta version, but all my brushes, recent opened files and everything is still avaiable. So that's a work around for now. I just wanted to post this bug. Maybe others experienced the same problems. I didn't update any drivers or changed anything else on my system. Simply the update routine seems to have a problem. I got a hint that something wasn't found after running the update (I believe it was the photo update, not sure). I've got a win10 64bit machine. So, please fix this.
  4. I work with affinity a few month now and I must say, I love the export dialog. It is perfect for me, you can see all possible export extensions with symbols and using the shortcut it is also easy to access, too. For the native or export file format: You get used to it and don't need to think about it, after you work a while with affinity. Ok, the shortcut is a bit complicated, but I got used to it, too. You can change the shortcut under "edit" ==> "preferences" to something easier. In generell: coming from photoshop there are a few things that work in other ways than in PS. But in many cases it works better and easier after getting used to it.
  5. Auto Center function after dragging bitmaps into the document. I drag and drop about 500 times a week a bitmap into my document (photo and publisher). I photoshop a dropped bitmap is centered automatically. In Affinity I have to click three times for each bitmap. That makes 1500 clicks more in one week than I have in PS. This feature is even implemented in the PS versions, that are 12 years old! This unneccessairy clicking isn't healthy. Most wanted is center. But perfect would be if there was a place to adjust the following auto fuctions for dropped bitmaps: 1. Center 2. upper left corner 3. resize bitmap until height or with fits
  6. +1 Yes, this feature is missing a lot. Unlike Photoshop, I have to center every photo that I drag and drop into my document by clicking two buttons. In PS it centers automatically, as this is the most wanted position. I do this maybe 500 times in one week. So I thought, I could work around by making a macro and use a shortcut. But Macros don't support shortcuts. So it is still one click.
  7. I tried it and it worked. It makes it easyer to design a pattern, as you see how it will repeat immediately. But I guess there are still some funktions missing to make it comparable to corel draw. Funktions like smooth edges, distances between the repetitions, ect. I remember corel had tons of options here that automated the process of building a pattern and made it all very easy. I'm working with the complete affinity software a few month now and must say it is really great! Hope the missing funktions will added soon. One of the highlights for me is that I can design new projects in Publisher and use the pixel brushes from photo along with the vector brushes from Designer. This really is a great functionallity. Compared to corel: Though corel photo and Draw have tons of extra high end features, affinity is way more userfriendly. In Corel, when there is a dialog window open, everything else on the app surface is blocked. For what I'm doing the affinity suite has all I need, only the pattern thing could be better.
  8. Hi Walt, can you tell us more about it? What does it do and where can we find it? Thanks.
  9. Hi, thanks for the brushes. They are great. Am I allowed to use them in commercial projects? Or can I buy them anywhere?
  10. Thanks for these great brushes. Really great!
  11. I can do everything with it that I used to do with PS CS6. Until now Affinity photo could open all my PS CS6 Photoshop files perfectly. I could just continue to work on a project, that I started the other day on PS. So I believe you can even use your PS pattern format. Did you try to open it in a Fill layer? But you don't have to cut anything outside your shape. You can just fill a hole fill layer with your pattern. The vector shape layer must be above the pattern layer. And then do right click on your vector shape layer and choose "Mask to below". Then your vector shape will be filled with the pattern. At PS it is called clipping mask. This way you can fill any shape with your pattern. If you are not happy with the size or direction of the pattern, you can change it any time by clicking on the fill layer.
  12. I checked it out, it is even better than in PS Cs6. You can just click and hold and then pull to enlarge the pattern, also turn it around in 360 degrees. Really great! So no reason to go back to PS
  13. Hi Russet, I found out how it works. It is a bit more complicated than in PS but I can live with that. Here is a video tutorial. In the beginning he shows how to make a pattern bitmap. Then he shows how you can use any bitmap to fill a layer with the bitmap as pattern, change size ect. :
  14. I just bought Affinity Photo and was happy. Just now I realized that the Photoshop funktion making patterns and fill any object with it is missing. At first I thoght I just didn't find it, but there really is non. It is hard to believe that such a every day task can't be done with Affinity Photo. All other Photoshop stuff is copied nicely and at some edges even better. Affinity: Please add this bread and butter feature, or I have to switch back to Photo Shop.
