  1. It does need careful tweaking of the settings and depending on the source file, I find it can do a reasonable job but of course YMMV...
  2. A Publisher workbook will need to be a very different beast to the other two guides IMO. I bought the Designer book and read it but it didn’t in any way reflect how I used the application. I tend not to use the applications to create “arty” designs so am probably not the typical Affinity user.
  3. I can recommend Microsoft Expression Web which is free.
  4. Since I posted my workaround I now tend to use the Ghostscript method for converting fonts to curves.
  5. Context is everything. In my situation pdf pass through is essential as I receive copy in pdf format from third parties and I simply cannot risk them not looking as intended. The lack of pdf pass through is one of the the most asked for features of the suite. A search of the forums will confirm this.
  6. I use the Affinity Suite and also Serif DrawPlus X8 for legacy documents and Serif PhotoPlus for Twain import and Trace functionality.
  7. Copy object > Paste style The closest to format painter
  8. The Affinity suite does not support pdf pass though.
  9. There are many threads and posts on here requesting pdf pass through.
  10. I was pleased to see my simple vector file made with ADes was featured on Dr John Campbell's video channel. Tue 21 April, International Update - 19 minutes in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlVU8XTLICI&t=76s His Covid-19 daily updates are very popular (650K subscribers) and highly recommended.
  11. The original question has been resolved by an application upgrade so no need to use a workaround @Graham H Mods - Can you lock this thread?
  12. I can recommend Microsoft Sharepoint Designer as a free html editor
  13. My workaround would be to use pdf2png or the GhostScript method to convert the pdf that has embedded fonts
  14. I’ve never really go on with the persona approach and like you increasingly favour the File...Edit in method
  15. In APub use Edit > Paste - Text retains bold and italics but also creates a new style based on the Imported style formatting From Text Styles tab select hamburger icon to the right of the required style Choose "Apply body text to paragraphs and preserve character formatting"
  16. Yes indeed (I tried Inkscape and the Microsoft pdf printer) however I didn’t find this method as reliable. The results occasionally did not match the original. Hence the conversion to png. Edit ability not an issue for me as these are adverts from third parties.
  17. You will see in other threads that my workaround of choice is to convert PDFs with embedded fonts to png
  18. I have occasionally had ghost and other artifact issues when changing Master pages. I have been able to resolve these by clearing the master page and reapplying it.
  19. I agree that a video tutorial using actual examples would be helpful. These forums are excellent but the advice given always benefits from a picture, animated gif or video. More work for the teacher but very beneficial for the student.
  20. Anyone else transitioned from their normal business to something Covid-19 related? Like many others, as my business has been decimated I’ve been using my Affinity and IT skills in new ways to support my own community as well as others.
  21. Maybe Really old threads such as these should be archived or filtered in some way to show that they refer to a previous version of the application?
  22. It is not just you Ralph. Lots of us are having to work round the fonts issue. We each have our favourite way of dealing with it and these forums are a great way to share these.
  23. As well as the official tutorials, take a look at the ones on YouTube posted by the likes of Olivio and AffinityRevolution. Dip in and dip out
