  1. If I have a named text style created that I want to use elsewhere in APu, I would have expected to be able to use the style picker to copy and apply it, however it doesn’t actually work as I had expected. Instead of allowing you to quickly apply a text style across a document , it copy copies the attributes of a style rather than the style with name itself which isn’t so useful. I can of course apply a shortcut to a text style to speed things up, but it would have been nice if the style picker was able to do it. Unless I have missed a setting?
  2. For roads.. I draw a line with the pen - Stroke colour white Effects - Outline colour black, opacity 100%, radius 1-10px For Intersections - Select all lines, Layer > Expand stroke, Boolean Add For two existing lines - Layer > Geometry > Merge curves
  3. We use Google drive or Sharepoint with text files and basic formatting. These are signed off and then layer out. A pdf is exported and uploaded to the shared drive. Change requests are made using comments either on the pdf itself or via Google comments.
  4. Thanks for the useful and interesting responses. I’ve made a not to self that I need to explore the book feature.
  5. I am getting duplicate text styles in my latest job. Two identical APu files - one creating a catalogue using data merge, the other being the main document that combines static content with dynamic content (the results of the data merge) copied across from the first file. My expectation is that as long as the styles are exactly the same, a new +1 style should not be created? That doesn’t appear to be the case. Merging rather than copying content across two documents might help me… https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Advanced/mergeDocument.html&title=Merge documents
  6. But note that it doesn’t remember the choice and you have to set “pages” every time you do an export. Its a long standing and very annoying “feature”.
  7. What would happen if you used the Edit in Designer option from APu?
  8. I've done some testing, and I believe that I failed to take into account that when you toggle between Export Artboard <> Whole Document, the export resolution is reset. The rule I have learnt when exporting, is that if you are changing the export area and resolution, you must change the resolution after the area. Thanks to @Hangman for prompting me to investigate further.
  9. If I export a JPG (reducing the resolution to 1024x768 @ 95%) from Ade I get different resolutions if I export the Artboard rather than the Whole Document. Even though the Whole Document is the same size as the Artboard, the Artboard export is half the resolution of the Whole Document export.
  10. For some unknown reason, ADe stopped working. Clicking on the app (I use the .exe version) or an existing file didn't do anything. This is what I did... 1) Open a file in APu and APho - used the Open in Designer option - Did nothing, app failed to load 2) Ran the update installer file and then used the repair option. After completing the repair, the app still failed to load. 3) Ran the update installer file and then used the install option (had to uninstall the App and do a reboot) - Was presented with the following: Navigated to C:\Program Files\Affinity\Designer 2 and deleted the Designer 2 folder Successfully installed the app, and ADe is now running again.
  11. The mass market for HTML editing dried up many years ago. CMS killed it off.
  12. Explained here https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/affinity-canva-free-not-for-profit/
  13. Why? We all have different needs and expectations from a product and the forum reflects that.
  14. A couple of years ago I upgraded to a new PC with plenty of RAM. I decided to use onboard graphics for a while to see how it performed and if necessary I would add a graphics card. I didn’t bother as it works as is.
  15. Qnap and QSync. Files from Documents folder are duplicated to the NAS.
  16. It should not make a difference but it does and the Sync software duplicates files. It doesn’t create shortcuts. See…
  17. Preview doesn’t work on W11 for Affinity files for me either unless I turn off the syncing of files to my NAS.
  18. Can I recommend that this is changed to print-on-demand and/or external print services? I missed this thread initially even though all of my work is exported to a commercial print service. I’ll take a look at the settings I use and report back but obviously the biggest trap to fall foul of is the Export to Spreads bug/feature which trips me up every couple of months.
  19. If you are waiting for preview window to load, just ignore it and hit export button.
  20. New from Clipboard when copying from a non-Affinity application can be hit and miss (Windows) especially images from MS Word. Copying and pasting to an intermediary like MS Paint tends to work for me. Paste as Content into a APu image frame often fails (greyed out) too when copying from APh too. Workaround is to copy and paste image directly into APu, copy image again, select frame and then use Paste as Content.
  21. I do this with ADe by aligning adjacent maps (one at a time) using the features like roads and text as guides. It’s easier if each map is the same size but if not you can zoom in to get the latest imported map (important) the same size as the others. Locking and grouping them when completed helps. Finally use the artboard tool to create a rectangle over all of them.
  22. Create a style which includes the tab stop(s) and apply that to all the text in the frame.
  23. I’ve been using these forums for many years and don’t have a clue as to how they are grouped. I just list the unread topics and read the ones I’m interested in, rarely starting a new topic but occasionally adding a reply to an existing one.
  24. Run APh on a second computer running Windows? Not exactly expensive to pick up a reasonable spec and you can go small form factor if space is an issue.
