Problem
Even the most organized designers may find themselves needing to redefine a number of elements as symbols. After all, there are deadlines, the all too easy to use Copy / Paste / Duplicate options and other scenarios that keep us from relying on symbols.  But what is worst is that to go back and reorganize these elements as symbols can also be daunting, because of large number of nested layers and each with their own unique locations. 
 
Solution
Introduce a function that takes any element and replaces it with a symbol in its place. The function intelligently uses the same X-Y coordinates of the object its replacing to position itself automatically.
 
Result
With a Symbol Replace option, a user can Create their Symbol, and then go anywhere in the document and replace those items that should be that symbol.
• No need to drag the symbol into the canvas.
• No need to position that symbol into the correct location manually.
• No need to nest that symbol in the layers studio.

I really hope affinity can update brush and pencil Tool as follow:
1. Pencil and Brush Setting : auto close curve option and Smoothing option before drawing to create predictive curve.
2. Symetry in vector (currently available in pixel)
3. Brush Stroke in vector (currently available in Pixel).
I think all of affinity user are agree with above feature. and ready to pay an additional cost.

I have a situation where I have ~650 layers, all well named that I need to search through quickly to hide/show for different permutations of an image. Is there a way I can either sort the layers alphabetically to find them more easily or search for them.

I second the request for a feature to search and/or sort layers by name, type (pixel or adjustment), blend mode, etc. For my work it's critical.

It's been more than a year since I bought the AFFINITY DESIGNER, and I was enjoying how beautiful it was until I realized it's not practical for me.

One of the reasons I want to stop using ILLUSTRATOR is because of its inability to use multiple cores thus causing so much FREEZING.  Affinity Designer, from what I gather, does use all the cores.

I use a lot of symbols to keep my files organized and to be able to import from one file to another.  And having that that SYMBOL menu window options available to choose different listing views, (i.e., icons, details, and large icons) makes a whole lot of difference in my workflow.

This is one of the major reasons, along with LIVE PAINTS for example, that keep ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR users who need a professional alternative still haven't changed to AFFINITY DESIGNER in spite of its elegance.

It needs to be PRACTICAL.

FIX THAT and I can guarantee you, that at least 20 users in my group/company, and those in my wife's company/studios will change as well.

DON'T DO anything and you will just keep the likes of us away and still complaining about ILLUSTRATOR.

I've been using affinity designer since 1 full year, so I think it's time to place my thoughts here as professional User, for long period of work I really miss more customization by the user side, as I work with vector pieces, sometimes is really time-consuming to click on the buttons to apply some simple changes, so I think the toolbar top options should also be available to apply as hotkey, because I can't see these options as option to use in my keyboard. I think this would be very helpful during my daily work and for all users as well.

Would be nice if you could add options to Flip command like Illustrator's Reflect tool.
Also would be nice if I could flip objects depend on the transform origin of Move/Point Transform Tool

In the colour panels, I'm using HSL slider most of the time because they are the most flexible and natural for choosing colour for me. But the problem is there is no HEX input field which I using very often. Each time I need to double click on the colour rectangle to open "colour chooser" and there enter or copy HEX code. The only slider which has HEX input is RGB Hex. It would be nice that the same input is on all other sliders. Also, in that case, you wouldn't need separate colour mode RGB Hex because RGB will already have Hex input

This feature request is regarding deleting individual anchor points on the path. Currently, it works like this: We have a path with 4 anchor points. We select one and press delete. It will remove this point and automatically select the rest of the points and if we press delete again it will remove the complete path.
The better and more productive way would be like in the Sketch app. After deleting the first point it would select next in the order and we just keep pressing delete and removing individual points until the end. Thing is if I want to remove complete path is easier to select all and press delete. And on this way by selecting next in the order automatically we have the speed and flexibility to remove more than one individual point.

I will frequently draw a small figure in Designer and then export the selection to a PDF. Each time in the export options I need to change the area from "Whole document" to "Selection without background." Could you please make it so that the app remembers the settings the user selected the previous time they exported so that it isn't necessary to change the option every time? Thanks a lot. 

I just made up an ad (in Designer) for publishing in print, and my husband suggested that we need to see how it would look to a colorblind reader. It would be VERY helpful to have that in all the Affinity products!
I do have ColorSchemer Studio, which does have the function of showing how your chosen colors would look to someone with different kinds of color vision problems. But I can't load my ad into it and see how the gradients would look, for instance. Maybe someone has such a program, and I'll go looking for one. But it would sure be great if I could check it within Affinity programs! Maybe you could find a developer who's doing this and pay him to incorporate his product into the global Affinity program.

Document timer.
Very often it is necessary to know the total time of working with the document, the number of re-savings and/or savings under a new name.
Yes, there is an option to use external applications to track the working time of the document, but it would be very useful to store this metainformation and save it from Affinity programs to csv/json/xls, etc.
I hope many people will benefit from this feature and appreciate it in the cool Affinity applications.

And on/off "Transform Mode" please

I was wondering why not make a redistribution of the panels?
1. if the panel transforms we always put it in the upper left corner, we would retrieve a space in the panels on the right so as to have other more open panels and do not open and close between the tabs.
2. Add the methods of the document next to the file name.
3. Make sure that even if I have the tool tab on 1 column, I can display the fill and trace color samples (now it works only from 2 columns onwards), I would recover space horizontally, since I have so much vertical space on the bar unused tools.
4. I would appreciate the possibility of having collapsible panels like in Adobe (I would save space and I shouldn't always go to the menu to call up the panels)
Now it is only possible to combine the panels on the right and left so as to occupy the entire column on the right and left, at the expense of the visual space dedicated to the work tables.
As it is now the interface should work with a 4k monitor to get the visual benefits, I have a 27 "1920x1080 and it seems like I'm always looking for space to better see the artboards.
I hope the idea is appreciated ...
 

Hello. New to Affinity Designer after 20–odd years in Illustrator. I'd like to request a way to get into isolation mode without having to go into the layers panel. The obvious (to me) way of doing this would be option/alt-clicking an object on the artboard with the move tool (which currently does nothing) and would mimic option/alt-clicking the thumbnail in the layer panel. Same modifier-click, just on the object itself instead of the object thumbnail in the layer panel. This would speed up my workflow tremendously, and one could be in and out of isolation mode rapidly without taking your eyes and focus off your artwork.
At the very least, if this existed as a menu item: Layer > Isolate we could assign a shortcut to it through preferences.
