Creating a palette from a large volume of images?

Hi all, I downloaded a color guide which contains around 300 individual images (.jpg), is it possible to create one palette easily from these images (not by adding them one by one)?

The feature to create a colour palette from an image is limited to loading one image at a time. It also can't be recorded into a macro either as it doesn't record the loading of the image or setting the amount of colours for the palette, to run as a batch process.

But there are programmes which are able to stitch separate images together as a single contact sheet. Photoshop, Bridge, IrfanView (only RGB) to name a few.

I've had a similar challenge, albeit not on such a large scale.

You don't mention whether you're using AFD or AFP, but I believe the method would be the same

What I did : create a new document of sufficient size, select, copy & place the colour guide image(s) on that document.

The size of the swatches on the original colour guide is not important, as long as the lot fits on your document.

It does'nt matter if there are obsolete colours such as stroke colour amongst the selected lot, you can delete those

obsolete swatches later.

Choose create pallette from document.

Delete obsolete swatches, if present.

Just to confirm

1. Are all images just one solid colour?
2. Are the JPGs all the same size?
3. If all the same size, what size are they?

4.  What Affinity apps do you have?

All the same size and yes all solid colours and I have all the apps   Windows and Ipad.

Sorry I mean in pixels

320x320 pixels 72 dpi

In APhoto

File > New Stack

Add all images, click OK

A new stack group is created 

Select the stack group and ungroup it

The document will now contain all colours on separate layers

If you try to create an application or document pallet now it will only contain the topmost colour as they are all stacked perfectly on top of each other.

Now need to find a way to separate the layers

First, resize the canvas (from the centre) to something larger than 320px X 300 (the amount of images)

Save document

In ADesigner

Select all layers in the layers panel

Then use the Alignment, Auto-distribute, Vertical commands to separate the layers on the screen so you can see all the colours - then create an application/document pallette

Only tested this with 5 colours using 100px X 100px images but it seems to work

Not sure how Affinity will cope with a stack of 300 images so you may want to test with just, say, 10 images until you know what to do.
Also not sure how many colours you can have in one palette, hopefully, it is not limited to 256

Let me know if it works with 300 images or what happens?
