Interior Book Design Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 Importing a Word document into APub now seems to work quite nicely, even paragraph and character styles are preserved. Well done! However, Word's default paragraph style Normal becomes [No Style] which means: You can't edit it any more. It is lost! I ask you to kill this bug and maybe map Normal to, well, Normal. Thanks. Workaround: Name your body copy paragraphs differently, a workaround I'm using with QuarkXPress which also seems to have a Normal style importing weakness.
Staff Sean P Posted May 14, 2019 Staff Posted May 14, 2019 Hi Interior Book Design This should be resolved in the next build! Thanks for letting us know. Interior Book Design 1
Interior Book Design Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 (edited) This bug has not yet been fixes (build ... 384). But it is very important. Furthermore, the whole import of styles seems to malfunction. See my other post. Edited June 15, 2019 by Interior Book Design Added more information
Staff Sean P Posted June 17, 2019 Staff Posted June 17, 2019 Have you tried creating a text frame first and then using File > Place with that frame selected? Doing it this way does import the styles correctly, however doing it without a frame selected first is doing it incorrect. I'll get that passed on. I should add that despite the Normal style being included it wasn't actually applied to the text that was using it. Again I'll pass that on.
Interior Book Design Posted June 17, 2019 Author Posted June 17, 2019 Sean, I've tried what you've said: still an issue In 399 In fact, styles disappear completely if I importing .docx. They do appear, if I import .rtf, except Normal, of course. Seems to be extremly difficult, QuarkXPress used to have the same problem long ago. So, at the moment, the workaround is: Import Word files in RTF only and rename Normal beforhand.
Staff Jon P Posted June 17, 2019 Staff Posted June 17, 2019 Any chance you can attach the docx file? The file we are using to test here seems to import them correctly Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com

The file we are using to test here seems to import them correctly Don't ask me, why, but out of a sudden it works fine (with some short documents). However, with one long document of mine, a novel, at least the Normal style stills turns into [No Style] again and this document you can get. However, I'd rather like to send the doc by mail. I'm not attaching it to my post. So, please send a PM, Jon.
