Gateway
I am using Quark XPress 2017. I have exported a logo as an .eps file (I converted text boxes and excluded page white). When I try to open the file Affinity Photo freezes. When I open Windows Task Manager it indicates that I am using 97% of my processing power. When I try to close the program an error message states that I cannot close it because a file is in process of being opened. Indeed, I cannot even close the program using Windows Task Manager. I have to reboot the computer.

firstdefence
Don't download this file unless you want to spend 20mins trying to stop it from locking your system up. I suggest you export as PDF from Quark Xpress or create the logo in another app like Inkscape. v_kyr
Hmm maybe the Affinity EPS parser has problems with the bytes in the header leader here ... Fixx
That file does not open in Affinity. You can open and resave with Illustrator and then it opens (attached). Text is combined to two objects, maybe this is too complicated for affinity? SJR_Logo_abrv2.eps

Moon12
Is there a solution to open old EPS files or Xpress Eps files like it is possible in Photoshop - but without adobe programs? Affinity designer or photo cannot open them with paths etc or high quality.
Moon12
Just now, Moon12 said: Is there a solution to open old EPS files or Xpress Eps files like it is possible in Photoshop - but without adobe programs? Affinity answered some months ago, on the question, if there will be a solution on this in facebook with: No. Will there be an attemt once to sella plugin for this? Fixx
Yes, Affinity apps will open old eps-files as vectors (or pixels if they are bitmaps). No, Affinity apps do not rasterize them direct like Photoshop, you have to rasterize then as separate step if desired. And there is trouble with some eps-files from QX.
