I agree! Affinity Suite costs as much as three months Adobe CC. Then you are free of paying more. It is best for Beginners and Mid-Professionals or in-house DTP in a company, where you can solve your problems within your company. If you earn some money with this DTP/Designer-business, if you have some different customers, if your products are expensive, you are better with Adobe CC. The uncertainty will not follow you all the time. As told by some contributors in the blog. And Xpress? Forget it. It is much pricier than Adobe. For example, I cannot convert Xpress 2022 Files down to 2019! So, you are always forced to by a new Xpress every two or three years.

Hallo Forum! Was wäre eine weitere günstige Lösung?

Hyphenation in German language

I mean, I activate the whole connected text with cmd-A. And hope to override in this case the paragraph-styles. -
Hyphenation in German language

The hint with the Zero is working. When I activate the whole connected text on the page, the Zero is not working on all paragraphs. Only if I activate one or some similar paragraphs, then it is working. What must be done to get this result on the entire text in the frame in one step, despite there are different styles in use? -

lost image links
Moon12 replied to Thomahawk's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
I found the solution, based on Mr. Farrells tip: If I click on YES (when the document opens) and look for the first demanded picture and then the next picture is needed, I abort the search. Then it looks for the pictures in this folder for some seconds and connects them new. In this case, I suggest the programmers, to do it like InDesign, and inform the user on every step the program does. Per example, how many pictures were found etc. -
lost image links

Yes this is really mad - the lost connections of pictures, 100 and more I changed the filename of the document, but all pictures were collected in a folder called Images. More than 100 pictures say that they are connected, but the status says: missing !?!?! So, what can I do there? In this case, i really miss InDesign, as Thomahawk mentioned previously. -
I do have hundreds of these invisible lost resources. How to get rid of them? One by one is a task for one day. The X-measure is a crazy number: 48662189658865345446481120125169056092740418120600972069937290234037514344334771617792 mm !

Workaround for font problem with placed PDFs
Moon12 replied to fiëé's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Thank you for this workaround! But how to install ghost script on mac? I only found curious installations, not workable for my tiny knowledge in scripting language. Is there an installer? -
Dear Support, I imported a 96-page magazine - which worked (almost) perfect. Unfortunately the hyphenation-setup is not taken from the InDesign styles. So, I have to set every number to 1. Then it works excellent. Unfortunately on every Text I must change these Numbers to 1. See Screenshots, please. Is there a trick to get the hyphenation settings from InDesign or to set all to 1 in a whole document? Another thing is the import of an PDF file. As I do not have the fonts installed, (this AD comes from a customer which uses his fonts). In InDesign, it shows up good, as it accepts the inbound fonts of this PDF. What can I do then? (To open this PDF in Illustrator CS6 and export as a JPG will not work long, as I will change to the newest MacOS.)

Affinity Publisher Customer Beta 1.8.0.502
Moon12 replied to AdamW's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on macOS threads
Wow! The first try with the idml converter is excellent :-)) I tried it with a magazine (100 pages) and small jobs and it worked well. Only the hyphenation was not correct. But a setting of „1“ in the most cases (German) solved it quickly. So I will try it with books and start with small jobs. The printing-results will show all up. -
For a 50€ Programme i can not expect super extras i would pay for a plugin which convers idml. But, despite of some unfiendly expectations, the question is also intetesing: when is this feature available?
-
Thanks for the answer. A tooltip in publisher would help a lot.
-
I would pay for an idml converter if it is a standalone app or a plugin. Sure Affinity will bundle this later as an argument.
-
Thank you!!!! I guess i could not see the selection button because the path was not closed.
-
Affinity series is quite professional. And has some sympathy. At the moment i miss only two things: the idml import and a good EPS import, like photoshop does.
-
Sorry, but on Affinity photo i can not see a possibility to convert a path to a selection. Is there a hint?
-
If indd or idml: This is almost the same. But this is wonderful news for the publisher and the company and the users!
-
Thank you for this: Publisher will export these pictures (cutted of course, as in the PDF). So it gets nearer to a solution.

Dear OzNate, thank you for sharing your thoughts. That is true what you argue. But one point is missing there: the >linking of the pictures<. Normally the pictures go from Folder to folder and disc to disc over the years. And where do you get the names of the pictures? Finding these pictures is easy with search, but this takes some work and time! Anyway, the way with PDF is great. AS CS 6 will be soon not more supported by Apple, so I am in a hurry. I also test Xpress2018, as it opens Idml (often quite good) and promises for 2019-edition to open all Indesign files. Lets see. I mostly use affinity Photo and Designer, as they work quite good. In one case I have to use Photoshop: On converting special PDFs and EPS Files. And still I could not find a replacement for these converting tasks. Best wishes Josef from Bavaria
