VectorCat Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 whether I hold the shift key or not, as I scale the cropping grid over the image to get the crop I want, the aspect ratio I typed into the appropriate fields does not hold! How does one instruct Photo to hold the aspect ratio the user has typed in? Thank you Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 What cropping mode did you choose? It works fine for me (on Windows) with Custom Ratio chosen. Changing the box size by dragging from any node keeps the ratio I've chosen. walt.farrell Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Strange, then. Sorry, I'm out of ideas for now. I am also on Mac and I have no problem with the Crop tool behaving properly as @walt.farrell did with his windows machine. I can't get it to become unconstrained unless I change the popup menu to unconstrained. walt.farrell 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear. VectorCat Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 Ah! A clue. I’m at work but when I get home I’ll look for that pop up. I was looking for something like it..sounds like I might have whizzed right past it. Quote
VectorCat Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 OK, yes, that's the secret: one must pick "Constrained" from the pop-up. Thank you! Quote

There is no "Constrained" on the pop-up menu on my copy of Affinity Photo. Are you sure there is an option with that name on yours? walt.farrell Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I'm not sure what pop-p is being discussed. I originally referred to the mode selection box on the Context Toolbar. VectorCat Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 I might refer to it as a pull-down menu and it offers custom, constrained and a few other choices. Quote
