Wosven Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Hi, I can't replace Helvetica with another font, each time I select another font, APub switch back to Calibri. But APub is able to replace Helvetica-bold. Programme_du_Conseil_national_de_la_Resistance_319198.pdf
kenmcd Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Hmmmm .... I opened the PDF in PDF-XChange Viewer and took a look. The designated Helvetica fonts are Type-1 fonts. And no fonts are embedded. PDF-XChange Viewer automatically substituted ArialMT and Arial-BoldMT. I opened the PDF in APub 1.7.0.292 (Beta) and the suggested replacements for missing fonts are Arial Narrow and Arial Narrow-Bold. I changed those to Arial and Arial-Bold and opened the document. The fonts appear OK after a quick look. Soooo ... now I am wondering what is happening on your system that is different. I am on Windows 7 x64.
Wosven Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 I'm on Windows 7 x64 too, but I don't have Arial Narrow. I don't know why it's suggesting Calibri, since I barely use it (I don't have Office suite on my computer), unless I open documents made with Windows Office using it. Perhaps it's switching (font manager) to the first system font in the list with a light option? (I've got Aleo light that should be selected first). But when I try to substitute with Aleo light, it switches back to Calibri light again. When I look at the option when opening the PDF: (and this way, APub is able to replace font, with for example Georgia Regular and Bold) APub : Helvetica > Aleo Regular Helvetica-Bold > Georgia Bold AD: Helvetica > Arial Regular Helvetica-Bold > Lato Bold Perhaps it's remembering some previous replacements…

One of their resettable options when you start them with Ctrl held down is "Reset Font Replacements". But there's a bug: I can replace font when opening the PDF, but not if I try to do it with the Fonts manager. It should have replaced Helvetica Bold with Georgia Bold:
Staff Gabe Posted April 24, 2019 Staff Posted April 24, 2019 Hi @Wosven, Sorry for the delayed reply. I cannot replicate this in the latest build. It should make it to the forums in the next couple of days. Give that a go once it's live and let us know how it goes. Thanks, Gabe. Wosven 1
Wosven Posted April 26, 2019 Author Posted April 26, 2019 Hi @GabrielM APub crash when I try to open this PDF with or without font substitution. In fact, it crash when I try to open a PDF. I'll do more tests since resetting font substitution options isn't enough for it to open any PDF without crashing.
Wosven Posted May 2, 2019 Author Posted May 2, 2019 Hi @GabrielM APub 305 crashes if this option is selected and lines of text aren't really well grouped after import of this PDF.
Staff Gabe Posted May 2, 2019 Staff Posted May 2, 2019 Thanks. I've logged this with our developers. Wosven 1
