J.S Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Hello there. Today, I downloaded the free trial of Affinity Photo with the intent to see if I am ready to upgrade (I am a user of PhotoPlus 8). I successfully installed it on my Windows 10 laptop, but, when I attempted to install in it on my Windows 7 machine, the exe file refused to initialise. I tried re-downloading the file and rebooted my computer but the result was the same. I would like to know whether this a buggy file or simply that it doesn't work on Windows 7. Thanks! Quote
SrPx Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 You need to activate Aero on your Windows. If it is that you dislike Aero (is sth to get used to it, imo) the only features you should keep enabled, in custom performance properties are : - Enable Desktop composition - Show thumbnails instead of icons (this is not required, but needed if you're working with images, IMO) - Smooth edges of screen fonts ( I believe neither required, but is pretty bad if you disable it, imo) - Use visual styles on windows and buttons How to reach there? Control panel /Settings, SYSTEM, Advanced Settings, and in advanced options, ....Performance field, hit the "configuration" button. Could be another issue, though, as it should pop up a window saying Aero is required or sth like that, but try this. Quote AD, AP and APub V2.6.x. Windows 10 and Windows 11.
walt.farrell Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 The other issue might be the level of Windows 7 installed. You need SP1. Also, it must be a 64-bit system, not a 32-bit system. J.S Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Hello there. I checked the operating system of my Windows 7 machine and it's a 32-bit, not 64-bit as I mistakenly thought it was, which explains why the trial version won't install on my computer. Thank you both for your helpful replies; I appreciate it. J. SrPx 1 Quote

AllenMiller Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 I am holding off installing Win10 on some of my computers due to XP mode legacy software. I want to use affinity software to convert to jpeg. Now that Win 7 is not supported by MS, is it safe to download an Affinity license onto a Win 7 machine? Also, will it install? On a 64-bit OS Quote
