it´s not under " it´s not under the " Symbolleister Anpassung " Menu either ?

I am using the Mac 1.6.7 version of Affinity Photo, but I noticed that in that version as well, the Rotation button pair is missing from the Customize Toolbar options.

That said, I do have that button pair on my toolbar, I think because at some previous time I used the default set, so you might try dragging that into the toolbar. I don't know if that will work (& I am not going to test it here in case it does not.)

Thanks to RC-R, You seem to be the only Person that´s noticed the missing Ikon ? I can Live without it, but it makes Live easier with one click ;-)

Perhaps it will Turn up  again on the next Up-Date ? I Changed the Program to English ! and now know the " Symbolleiste" is  the "Tool-Bar" and "Symobleiste Anpassung"

= Coustomise Toolbar" - did n´t help Though !  P.S. Is also missing in Affinity Photo / jpeg  not only - Develop ?

Hi llewxam :)

Judging from your version number 1.6.5.135 I'm assuming you're running the Windows version of Affinity Photo. In the Windows version these icons have never been present as far as I know, this has been logged with our developers to be investigated.

The Rotation button pair is missing from the Customize Toolbar options for the Develop Persona in the Mac 1.6.7 version as well, but somehow they are still on my toolbar:

The same thing is true for the 1.7.0.107 Mac beta -- the buttons are on my toolbar but not available in the Customize Toolbar options.

As far as I know these buttons are not intended to appear in the customise toolbar dialog - they are only displayed when you open a RAW file, however there's a bug on Mac that does make them appear permanently in the toolbar, even when you switch to from Photo Persona to Develop Persona (which shouldn't display them). That's what happening for you. The only way to restore the default/intended behaviour is to reset the app (keeping the first three checkboxes ticked is enough). This issue is already logged on Mac.

In the Mac version this is expected behaviour. Although a somewhat interesting design choice, the rotate buttons can be moved or removed but cannot be manually added. However if you've removed them and want to restore them, the default set from the bottom of the dialog will return them. This is also logged with the devs as an improvement :)

Call me crazy, but I think it is a useful feature for the Develop Persona, because (as I understand it) it is possible for a RAW file to be displayed rotated 90° or 180° from the normal if for some reason the EXIF Orientation flag in the RAW file is incorrectly set. So rather than having to work with it incorrectly oriented in the Development Persona (or for that matter developing it in that orientation) these buttons do have a place in the Develop Persona toolbar.

However, having to revert to the default set to get them if for some reason they are not already there is a less than ideal solution, at least for users like me who have carefully set up the toolbar in a specific way. In particular, I hate how the 'flexible space' default spreads everything out on my 27" iMac -- as you can see from my screenshot, I use regular spaces everywhere so everything remains in the same relative location regardless of how wide or narrow I make the workspace window.

So the tl;dr version is I consider adding those buttons to the Customize Toolbar options in both Mac & Windows versions to be a legitimate improvement.

Hi llewxam,
If you have bought the application from the Mac or Windows App Store yes, updates are automatic (you may have to set up the App Store apps to turn on automatic updates). If you bought the application from the Affinity Store it depends on the platform: the Mac version does have automatic updates already, the Windows version doesn't.

However, your Affinity application on Windows will check during startup for the availability of an update, and if found will provide a button you can click to initiate a download of the update.
