In the field 'Text' you can type in text and numbering fields. E.g. according your example above you would type in there 'Chapter \#\t'. This translates into 'Chapter' plus a SPACE plus the current numbering level's number plus a TAB. I hope this helps. d. Quote Affinity Suite on Windows (V2) and iPad (V2). fde101 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 You probably want to use text styles for this. Set the "next level" of the "Chapter..." style to the "Subchapter..." style. For the numbering text for the subchapter style you will need "\1." in front of the "\#" to add the number of the first level (chapter). dominik 1 Quote
Tom Schülke Posted December 20, 2018 Author Posted December 20, 2018 Hi, sorry to ask again. Under Textstyle i cant find a category > paragraph > Bullets and Numbering.. Ok i find it under the tab. Paragraph.. here i tried to put in the \1." and "\#". This does what i expected.. the Heading gets a Number 1. followed by the text.. But when i apply this to the textstyle "Heading 2", and update this textstyle with it, all my Headings get the same number.. the number 1. So what am i missing here.. also what would i have to do to number for exmple a Heading 1.1 1.2 1.3.. is ther out any tutorial about this ? When you didnt ever work with indesign on a professional level, this still is very confusing.. sorry. ill put two screenshots. Quote

Set it to Below Current Level instead. 4 hours ago, Tom Schülke said: also what would i have to do to number for exmple a Heading 1.1 1.2 1.3.. Set the list level. It should be 1 for the chapters that are numbered 1, 2, 3, and 2 for the subchapters that are numbered 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2 etc. Then in the list text, \1 will become the chapter number, and \2 will become the subchapter number. Look at text styles Numbered 1, Numbered 2 for an example. Quote
Tom Schülke Posted December 20, 2018 Author Posted December 20, 2018 (edited) Thank you Dave Harris This worked out for the Text itself.. I made the secound heading a child of the first Heading. Now.. How can i make the TOC reflect the subheading.. and. how can i make the TOC also bring in the Numbering of my Headings ? Edited December 20, 2018 by Tom Schülke Quote
