bill hansen Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I'm hoping to move completely away from Photo Shop CC to Affiniti Photo (AP) for editing still photo images. I've been working with AP for a couple of weeks, and so far I like it a lot, but I haven't been as happy with the sharpening and noise removal tools. So - two questions - (1) is there a way to install Topaz Denoise 6 into Affiniti (I know the entire Topaz Studio can be installed, but I'll only use DeNoise and I don't want the whole Studio) and (2) Is there a plug-in sharpener tool which is more flexible and powerful than the basic tool in Affiniti? My favorite sharpener has been "Smart Sharpen" from Photo Shop. The sharpener tool in Affiniti seems to be quite basic. Jowday 1 Quote
HVDB Photography Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Nik Collection > Dfine 2 does a pretty good job .. Quote Affinity Photo 2.3.1 Laptop MSI Prestige PS42 Windows 11 Home 23H2 (Build 22631.3007) - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.00 GHz - RAM 16,0 GB
v_kyr Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 AFAIK Topaz also offers a sharpening tool among their suite, further the NIK plugins (best use the free older Google release here) also offer denoise and sharpening plugins. - See: Affinity Photo: Plug-ins Support: Affinity Photo Plugins Support (Mac)Affinity Photo Plugins Support (Win) Plugins Installing Nik Plugins (macOS) Installing Nik Plugins (Windows) Installing & Using Nik Dfine Cecil 1 Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

The combined noise reduction and clever sharpening delivers excellent results with an organic look with just a few adjustments. I just cant remember when I used reqular unsharp mask and high pass sharpening in Photoshop. Quote "The user interface is supposed to work for me - I am not supposed to work for the user interface." The software continued to disappoint and not deliver.
