Changing dpi (with no resampling) doesn't change dimensions

Recommended Posts

When using Document Resize, when changing the dpi (with no resampling) the dimensions do not dynamically change - the window doesn't show the new dimensions of the document. The only way to see the new dimensions is to click Resize and then re-open Document Resize.

To clarify:

If I have an image that is 10 inches by 10 inches at 100dpi and I open Document Resize and uncheck 'resample' and double the dpi, the image should now be 5 inches by 5 inches. But the Document Resize window doesn't reflect this change.

The only way to see the new dimensions is to 'Resize' and then reopen Document Resize. This is a pain. Photoshop can do this. Is this a bug or a new feature?

Technically, it is neither: updating the dimmed out dimensions is more of an unimplemented feature, one users have been asking to be implemented since the first Affinity app was released. So far, that hasn't helped making it more of a priority. >:(

I think it's a bug.

Curently the shown dimensions are wrong (when changing the dpi and not resampling). That's not a feature, but correcting a mistake in the application.

Hi Markeeee,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Here's a tip that may help until this get sorted: assuming the Resample box is already unticked enter the dpi you want then press Enter (to make sure the input filed in not selected anymore otherwise it will not work), then tick Resample and untick again. The correct size in inches should be displayed in the input fields without the need to close that dialog.
