Is there a way to change the default font Arial to another font? I have a font our company uses all the time and it would be nice to open a new document and that font is already selected.

If you create a text frame and change the font and the font's size to what you want as your default, doesn't Edit > Defaults > Save then apply that as the default for all new documents?

Or have I misunderstood the OP's request?
