Pantone colours

I’m very new to Designer on iPad and I haven’t used it on desktop so it’s all new. I’ve come from  Illustrator and photoshop and know those well. On the iPad version of Designer can I select a specific Pantone colour? Also is there a way to change the view to show Pantone numbers so I can at least scroll through and pick an exact colour. I’ve seen there is this option on the desktop, just hoping I’m missing the option on the iPad. Thanks.

In Color Studio > Swatches, tap on the icon to the right of the name of the selected swatch category (looks like a 2 by 2 grid of squares). For the Pantone swatches, this toggles the display to an (insanely long!) scrolling list of the names of each color on a rectangular sample of that color.

@DaniDesign The Help file is not really MY document to share. I simply made is a direct reproduction of the Affinity Design built in Help file, in PDF form, so that I could refer to Help contents without having to close the Affinity project each time, and so I could peruse it on iBooks when not using the app itself. Content is copyright of Serif, however I have been informed by a moderator here that it is ok to post it on this site for use by other Affinity Designer owners/Users. Hope that helps.

How do I search for pantone colors on affinity designer ipad.  Just like we can on the desktop version.

Currently that option not available on iPad version.

We really need better colour-handling options in the iPad version! We can’t search for colours, we can’t specify tinting/shading percentages and we can’t enter hexadecimal colour codes.

I guess I was just hopeful that it was an update and we could now search. Fingers crossed it will appear soon in an update.

Yes, otherwise it’s hard to get anything done on the iPad version when needed.

They probably should have never released it until everything was compatible with the windows and Mac version.

That’s going a bit far, IMO. I’d rather it didn’t have its current limitations, of course, but I’d much rather have it with those limitations than not have it at all.

If your workflow allow for that, that’s fine. Everyone has different needs.

our workflow needs the flexibility to use the Mac and iPad versions in order to work on some of our pro projects.

Understood, but where’s the ‘flexibility’ in having a Mac version but no iPad version because they haven’t yet managed to cram all of the features into the latter?

Please take into account that the iPad apps are less than ½ the price of the desktop ones & that they must conform to the iOS memory management & file system implementation, which is considerably different (& in some ways much more restrictive) than the Mac OS one. iPads also have substantially less RAM than typical desktop Macs (just 2 GB for some supported models & no more than 4 GB for the iPad Pros), so it may not be practical to cram all the desktop app features into the iPad versions.
