Tex4aviation Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 In a imported JPG picture the filters work But when I import a RAW and work in the develop mode, only HDR is available. I work on a 32 bit RGB (HDR) picture. File size aprox. 90 MB. I copied the picture and made a new level to work on it. Can you help please Thank you in advance. Hans Quote
John Rostron Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Your screenshot looks as if it in the normal pixel-editing Persona, not the Develop Persona. I am surprised because on my PC, all the Nik plugins work OK except HDR. Have you looked at Edit > Preferences > Photoshop Plugins ? Are the Nik plugins listed as being available? John Rostron Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 @walt.farrell, @Lee D, you are quite right. I was wondering (as others have) why you might want to work with a 32-bit image. As an experiment, I took a raw file (an image of Gloucester Cathedral) and developed it to a 16-bit image, then promoted it to 32-bit and then applied the Nik HDR plugin. I was not offered any options when I did this, but I saved it and the resulting image was very much like the original, but with the histogram shifted to the left. There were no tone-mapping options in the Nik filter, but I applied the Tone mapping Persona to apply the Detailed tone map before reducing it to 8 bit. I then repeated the process without the conversion to 32-bit and without Nik HDR, just applying the Tone Map Detailed option., again saving as 8 bit. Processed with 32-bit and HDR: Processed without 32-bit or HDR I think I would be hard pressed to say which was the better! Tex4aviation Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 I made another screenshot. It shows that all plugins are installed. only two seems to work. But in fact they work all if I import a JPG file. But it does not work with an imported RAW. Quote
John Rostron Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 It is generally true that plugins only work on developed images. If you develop your raw file, then the plugins should work. Tex4aviation Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 I developed the file first in the RAW editor then started to work in the develop part. but this does not work. You mean I must first save a JPG File then reopen it ? Thats a huge lost of informations, maybe with a TIF it works Quote
Staff MEB Posted June 4, 2018 Staff Posted June 4, 2018 Hi Tex4aviation, Welcome to Affinity Forums When you open a RAW file it will open in Develop Persona by default. This is where you develop the RAW file before converting it to an image (clicking on the blue Develop button on the top left of the interface) for further editing in Photo Persona. Photoshop plugins cannot be used in Develop Persona, only in Photo Persona. Most of them only work on 8/16bit images and will appear greyed out when cannot be used.
