mateuspollonio Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Please, add just a simple option to stop toggling between tools I just used when I press the same hotkey twice, please! Its just too much annoying! Quote

Alfred Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 How does setting up your own shortcuts change the behaviour described by the OP? Whatever hotkey you choose, if you press the same one twice in succession the second press takes you back to the previous tool. mateuspollonio 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Pšenda Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 For example key "T". It is default Artistic Text Tool and Frame Text Tool. I prefere only one function/tool (not toggling between tools), for example Artistic Text Tool, I must delete/change shortcut for Frame Text Tool. Now pressing "T" select only Frame Text Tool, and not toggling with Frame Text Tool. Alfred Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Ah, no, we're talking about two different things! If the shortcut belongs to a group of two (like T for Artistic Text and Frame Text) then pressing the same key will toggle between those two options, but this is just a special case of cycling through all the options in a group; for example, pressing J repeatedly in Affinity Photo will cycle through the options in the Healing Brush Tool group so that you can access the Inpainting Brush Tool and other related tools. What the OP is talking about is the fact that with a single shortcut such as V for the Move Tool, pressing it a second time will select the previous tool instead of reselecting the current tool. Pšenda Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Under "toggling between tools" I understood switching tools like Artistic a Frame Text Tool. But if it is "return to previous tool", so it's different :-) In this aspect Affinity does not behave consistently. For example select is View Tool: - press V change to Move Tool, next press V return to View Tool,... (cycling View and Move Tool), - press T change to Artistic Text Tool, next press T switch to Frame Text Tool, next press T switch back to Artistic Text Tool,... (toggling with Text Tools). If it should be uniform with respect "return to previous tool", it would have to look like this: - press T change to Artistic Text Tool, next press T switch to Frame Text Tool, next press T return to View Tool, next press T change to Artistic Text Tool,... (cycling View and Text Tools). If Options for "Return to previous tool" disable (as required mateuspollonio): - press V change to Move Tool, next press V stay to Move Tool. - press T change to Artistic Text Tool, next press T switch to Frame Text Tool, next press T switch back to Artistic Text Tool,... (toggling with Text Tools). mateuspollonio Posted December 23, 2017 Author Posted December 23, 2017 Alfred understood what I was saying... It's very annoying, you are doing something, then you stop, look at it, then realize you have to move something, then you press V, and it goes back to the previous tool, like zoom for example, then instead of move what you want, you zoom in or out, then you have to zoom in or out again to adjust your view, press V another time, then move Alfred, metajake and Fixx 3 Quote
metajake Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 @Affinity Please provide an option to disable all tool toggling : D (I love Affinity Designer and Photo. As a 10 year industry graphic designer, they have essentially replaced Illustrator and Photoshop). Please! Quote
