This was created on its own layer, adding a gradient to it. Then added a mask where I use a specialty brush to mix the fog appearance up a bit. This 'mixing' and use of the specialty Bruch ( size xl large) is where the high usage and freezing come into play. This technique is the subject of one of the AP tutorials and, coincidentaly, one I was using yesterday on a Wintel PC. I don't have any performance problems but I can confirm that it produces large .afphoto files. Quote AP, AD & APub user, running Win10

mos063
I worked with affinity first time yesterday. New macbook pro 15. It is PAINFULLY slow. No way I can use this program for my photo editing. After adding a couple of layers it took a really long time just adjusting the exposure for example.. Impossible to work with. And I was so excited I didn't have to buy an adobe subscription
Staff MEB Posted December 1, 2017 Staff Share Posted December 1, 2017 Hi mos63, Welcome to Affinity Forums Can you please create a new thread for your issue specifically? There's usually some reason for program slowdown's. We need more details to help diagnose the issue. What were you doing exactly when the program becomes slow/unresponsive? Does it behaves the same way (becomes slow) when you perform the same action on a new document? Can you attach the file so we can try to replicate the your issue actions here on our systems? micheal.hd
I ended up removing my anti-virus program kaspersky. It appears he was the culprit of my slowness problem. replaced him with bitdefender and no problems so far.
