Hi Steve L,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Tap the Document icon on top of the interface and select Resize, then on the context toolbar on bottom tap the first control (Resize) to open a popup (the list in the popup is scrollable) and select Canvas. Enter the values you want in the Width and Height fields (you can tap the controls to enter/write specific values), adjust the Anchor control to Middle Center (to resize the canvas from the center) and tap the checkmark on the right to complete the operation.

Hi Adan,

I filled with white by clicking on the fill tool (the "bucket"in the tool bar on the left). Then selected white on the colour wheel on the right of the screen.

Hope that helps.

Steve.

Hi Felipe Adan Lerma,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

If you have not set the document's background to Transparent you should be seeing the white already when you enlarge the canvas. One way to fill the background with any colour you want (or gradient) is creating an ew Fill Layer and placing it on the bottom of the layers stack in the Layers Studio. To create a Fill Layer, tap the Layers Studio, then tap the plus icon on the top of the Layers Studio and select New Fill Layer. The layer will be created using the active colour. To change to another colour (make sure the Fill Layer is selected in the Layers Studio) open the Colour Studio and select the colour you want.

As a new user, I'm also having issues with this task. "MEB", I've followed exactly the instructions in the 'Help' Menu of AP for iPad with regards to increasing the Canvas Size. Each time, with the purpose of creating a Border, no transparent 'border' appears around my image. When I try to add a new Colour Fill layer, that still doesn't 'fix' it I've tried three times without success. AP is v1.6.12.86

I can't see any step that I've missed, as your steps here reflect the instructions in the 'Help' Menu.

I see a transparent (checkerboard) border as soon as I tap ‘Apply’, but it didn’t work exactly as desired until I first made sure that the Anchor setting — accessed via the tiny white triangular pointer in the Context toolbar — was ‘Middle Centre’.

As I said, I followed exactly the instructions, including the "Anchor Point".

I hadn’t actually read the instructions in the Help, but upon reading them now I can confirm that my steps were the same. I can’t persuade it to go wrong here.

Appel, the posted question was how to increase canvas size in Affinity Photo. :) You are referring to Artboards. Are you using Photo or Designer?

Why is it impossible to choose the color of the resized canevas

The canvas is always white unless it’s transparent. Resizing has nothing to do with it.

As noted above, if you want a coloured background you can add a Fill layer at the bottom of the layer stack.

yes i understand but a feature with a colored canvas would be welcome

My apologies. You posted a question to the ‘Affinity on iPad Questions’ forum, so it wasn’t obvious that you were making a feature request.

I have followed this. It’s a complicated way to resize. That aside, I’m finding the artwork is getting stretched. All i want to do is make the can as bigger, not touch the artwork already on it . See attachment. I increased the vertical height and it lengthened the artwork?..

Ok that’s helpful thanks… it’s over complicated though and hard to remember the process. Just one issue is that i have placed oversized artwork onto the canvas. This is the new height of the canvas. There appears to be no way to set this as the new canvas size. I’ve tried to use a ruler to measure the height, but you can’t use rulers when resizing. See screenshot. The ruler is obscured by the resize tools, so I can’t even guesstimate the height needed. There are no visual indicators of the new measurement.
