Makanuki
Hi there! I was wondering if it is gonna be possible in future updates to create patterns and have full control over the spine. The only feature that allows me to create patterns that I know about for now is the cmd+J which is great for spirals and linear repetition but if I wanted to do more complex pattern I am stuck. Is there any other way? Thank you!! :)
Staff MEB Posted January 10, 2015 Staff Share Posted January 10, 2015 Hi Makanuki, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Currently there's no specific tools for pattern creation. This is the first version of Affinity Designer and there's still a lot of features to be implemented. Check our roadmap to get an idea of what's planned (the items highlighted in blue are coming next). Note that's not a definitive list. We will be adding more features as soon as those are finished. Thanks for your request/suggestions. Hope you're enjoying the software! Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
CartoonMike
One app that I'm getting ready to test with Affinity Designer is called Patternodes (by http://www.lostminds.com ). It's a cool little app that can export seamless tiling patterns as raster or vector. Its interface is interesting and based on Nodes (like how Blender does texturing and such). I picked it up because I wanted something to jazz up the backgrounds for some of my comics. While you will still have to dupe (cmd-J) the imported object, at least when you're aligning them, the pattern should be seamless. hth achilles177 and ronnyb 2 Quote Mac OS X Catinlina, 2014 iMac, 3.5 Ghz Intel Core i7, Huion Kamvas Pro 22 Graphic Tablet, 16GB RAM, MacOS10.12 || Magic keyboard w/numeric keypad, wireless trackpad, Kengsington Edge Trackball || Flux Capacitor in a secure location --- I encourage kids to go ahead and play on my lawn. ronnyb
Mike, That looks like a fun version of Quartz Composer for vectors; I'll keep an eye out for a good project to get it for!
