JuanL Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Hello…I'm brand new to Affinity Design and I want to do a 3 dimentional text effect. Is there a way to do that effect here in AD ? Thank you, Juan :) Quote
Codename Capri Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Hi, is this sufficient? Simple add some effects in effects -> 3d If you wish add some shadows. Cost me maybe 20-30 seconds. Greetings PS: If you wish perspective transformations: That feature is on the roadmap and will be available soon. Quote
JuanL Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 That sounds good and can't wait for the "perspective transformations". Thank you…! Codename Capri 1 Quote
AshTeriyaki Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 3D software is far better for 3D text and a good number of packages will open .Ai files. But perspective based transforms would be great. And the affinity guys will hopefully do a great job of it. Quote
ronniemcbride Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I use cheetah3d for 3d text. export svg and import svg into cheetah3d. extrude texture and render import and place your image in AD and go from there. Herbert123 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Check This - >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-JrFxOk8qc The best argument I have seen all week for a live blend tool in Designer. Manually duplicating and offsetting copies is just so... Photoshop. Terrible workflow. This takes me 20 seconds in Photoline, and the blend effect is live / non-destructive. Same in Illustrator. Fixx Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Vector 3D would be great. Old Adobe Dimensions was really good app, but when it got rolled into Illustrator it was not so great anymore. And no, current dedicated 3D-softwares do not output vector, only bitmap. Quote

Also interesting to note is that SVG animations can be exported as well. Outlines work really well. Compared to Dimensions smooth shading is not possible.
