DarkClown
The Mac version has it and the help file describes it:Where do I find the "Modular Mode" in the Windows Version? i7-12700KF, 3.60 GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet, Windows 11 Pro - AP, AD and APublisher V1 and V2https://www.timobierbaum.com
Staff Chris B Posted November 24, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 24, 2016 Hey DarkClown, Do you mean 'Separated Mode'? If so, Windows does not have the equivalent as this is a feature of OS X. You can obviously manually undock the panels and reduce the size of the window but it isn't as simple as a single click in a menu dropdown. Staff MEB Posted November 24, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 24, 2016 Hi DarkClown, I believe you are referring to Separated Mode on the Mac. This is only available on the Mac version where the UI used to be displayed this way on old OS versions. Currently most apps don't use this anymore and are moving all of its tools/panel to inside the window application frame. DarkClown
Thanks for the clarification. In the German version it's called "modularer Modus" vs. "Normalmodus" - and even in the help file of the windows version it's described and explained (maybe this needs to change). That's where the confusion was comming from.I was hoping to find another mode to detach the single picture windows, since I always work with multiple files side by side (flying windows). Sadly the windows in the normal mode already switch to "Full screen single window mode (having other Files only in tabs at the top available) when placing the windows in the upper third of the screen ... so it's hardly possible to properly detach the windows and work with multiple visible flying windows side by side.Talking of flying (detached) windows: it would be nive to have a mode, where the windows size is always the size of the document (and rezising with changing zoom). This would save a lot of effort. i7-12700KF, 3.60 GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet, Windows 11 Pro - AP, AD and APublisher V1 and V2https://www.timobierbaum.com
Staff MEB Posted November 24, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 24, 2016 I'm not sure i understood you, but you can detach the document tabs so they can be placed side by side. Simply drag the document tabs to the middle of the window (canvas) to detach them. Unfortunately it's not (yet) possible to drag layers from one document to the other in the Windows version. Staff Chris B Posted November 24, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 24, 2016 Hey DarkClown, I'll look into the translation for you. I've attached a screenshot of my typical layout. As you can see I have pulled out two documents. It isn't a million miles away from how the Mac does it but it works for what I need. DarkClown
Sorry, maybe I did not explain my issue properly.I love to work with detached windows (as you showed it). But this is hardly realistic because each time you move a a document window to the top 1/3 of the main window it automatically gets attached again :-(. It would to far better not to automatically attach windows again, but let the user manually drag a window to a fine area at the top to attach it deliberately. And since window sizes in detached documents to not automatically resize and adapt to document sizes, one hast to manually resize the window all the time ... and this in most of the time results in undeliberately attaching the stupid window again ;-)Attached is a copy of the current german help file:Thanks for your answers!Timo i7-12700KF, 3.60 GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet, Windows 11 Pro - AP, AD and APublisher V1 and V2https://www.timobierbaum.com
Staff MEB Posted November 24, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 24, 2016 You're right, the area to reattach the window is too big and interferes with normal use. It should be reduced to the regular document tab height. The automatic resize of document windows when detached doesn't help either. I will pass this to the dev team. Thanks.
