Affinity Photo not working with Mac Sierra

Recommended Posts

After upgrading to macOS 10.12 Sierra Beta, none of the Affinity photo editing extensions are working in the Apple Photos app.  I am getting messages like "Unable to edit with Affinity Monochrome.  An unexpected error occurred."  Can this be fixed?

Hi jackalde,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

macOS Sierra is still in Beta so some features in the Mac App Store version may not work as expected. If you install the latest Affinity Photo 1.5 Beta 4 you shouldn't have issues with macOS Sierra.

Note that you must keep the Mac App Store version installed to be able to validate/run the Beta and that files created or saved with the Beta are NOT compatible with older versions.

Beta are pre-release versions intended for testing, not production use. Typically, they have unfinished code & known bugs. As explained in the FAQ for the OS X public beta program, you should always backup your computer before installing an OS X beta & report any bugs you find in the beta to Apple through the mechanism included in it.

I just updated to Mac OS Sierra and I now have a problem printing to my Canon Pixma printer. I send a document to print and it spits out a black sheet of paper and an error appears in the printer window saying "Could not print because of a Filter error"

The same document prints fine from Photoshop, so I know this is not a Mac OS or Canon software issue.

Recently I have experienced similar problems in printing (Epson SC-P600) from Affinity Photo 1.4 (and Photoshop CS6) after upgrading to macOS Sierra. The problem is probably related to the printer drivers (OS X EI Capitan) as indicated on this page (I could not find a similar page from Epson)

The workaround works for me as well as saving a TIFF file and printing from Preview.

I hope it helps.

It was a Mac OS software issue, at least according to the just released About the macOS Sierra 10.12.1 update article. Among the fixes is "Addresses a “Filter Failed” error when printing to some Canon printers."

I have just upgraded my MacbookPro from Mountain Lion (10.8.5) to Sierra.  Affinity Photo 1.5.2 does not appear in the list of applications and has disappeared.

Can anybody please help me?

Many thanks
