hugo bertrand
Is there a smooth path function somewhere? Busenitz
Staff Callum Posted August 2, 2016 Staff Share Posted August 2, 2016 Hi Hugo, A button to Smooth nodes will appear on the context bar once you have either the Pen Tool or the Node Tool selected :) C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. Staff MEB Posted August 2, 2016 Staff Share Posted August 2, 2016 Hi Hugo, Adding to what Callum said, you can use the Smooth Curve button from the Action section (third icon) in the context toolbar whit the Pen Tool/Node Tool selected to remove/smooth a few nodes from a path, but there isn't a slider to dynamically do this as in other apps yet. When I draw a squiggly line with the Pencil Tool in build 1.5.0.8 on Windows, selecting the object with the Node Tool and pressing the 'Smooth curve' button gives me more nodes instead of fewer. Staff MEB Posted August 2, 2016 Staff Share Posted August 2, 2016 Hi Alfred, Yes, in some cases (if there's already few nodes) it isn't much effective. It mostly useful to remove nodes from an expanded path with several superfluous nodes. Hopefully this should be improved in the future. Alfred
Thanks, Miguel. It does seem to help a bit if I use it twice, but there's clearly room for improvement! I hope we get a slider control for it at some point. By the way, shouldn't 'Expand Stroke' be greyed out if the selected object doesn't actually have a stroke applied? hugo bertrand
Thanks! All clear now!!! Just an opinion: I think you are confusing the user with having so many options and twice a smooth button. Like everything, please keep a minimalist philosophy!!!!
