I know that this request has been requested for years and has been ignored by developers for years, but:

I would like to have the possibility to create animated GIFs in Affinity Photo/Designer.

Animated GIFs are by no means a relic of the past, but a very lean way of conveying information. Animated GIFs can be used again and again in help systems, technical documentation or forums.

Yes, I know, there are online tools where you can upload your images. But I don't want that. I don't want to upload any reputable sources without knowing what will happen to them in the future.

So please: finally add animated GIFs as an export option. It's not rocket science.

Thank you very much.

Jeff

Serif has indicated several times that they have no intention of adding animation support or 3D support to the Affinity suite anytime soon.

You can't export animated GIFs because you can't create an animation in the software which could then be exported.

Sure you could. You could use Layers (each containing the single image for the animated GIF) in Photo, or multiple Artboards in Designer.

One possible way could be to use "Cavalry."
There's a free version; you just need to create an account.
Vector graphics can be transferred via clipboard. At least
with Affinity Designer version 1.

Cavalry also offers numerous great additional options for
creating animations. Animation could be rendered as .Apng
and a few other Formats. Rendering as .Gif seems not possible,
at least with the free Version.

Here a rendered .Apng from Cavalrys Example Scenes.

Developers can't cope with saving GRAPHICS in one-bit format without artifacts (for example, for silkscreening), what to speak of animated GIFs... 😪

It's a shame that no attention is being paid to this issue. Technical editors and writers who want to use graphics, images and also animated GIFs (for example, to display an assembly) in their online help cannot do so. Creating animated GIFs shouldn't be rocket science.

For those who don't know:
Animated GIFs are just a stack of many individual images that are played one after the other.

Example (source https://support.arctic.de/en/freezer-36-a-rgbr4):

The point here is to bring only existing, finished individual images into such a stack and save them as an animated GIF.

Dear Affinity team, please reconsider. Thank you.
