Gianni Becattini Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 It seems that it does not work, but probably I am doing something wrong. I am not able to change the default setting for the pen. When I use the Pen tool, it always sets Fill/White and Stroke/Black. I change the settings, select the curve, then Edit/Defaults/Sync from Selection and then Edit/Defaults/Save. On the next application run, the pen settings return like before. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Gianni Quote More than 30 Macs, from 1984 Mac 512K Plus to 2020 iMac 27" i9
walt.farrell Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 As far as I know, the Defaults function you're using is for object defaults, not for tool defaults, Gianni. I don't think Affinity provides a way for you to do what you want. Latens Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 It only works if you create an aftemplate with your defaults set. Quote .
carl123 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I can set my Stroke and Fill colours for the Pen Tool to whatever values I want and they remain those values after restarting the app. I currently have blue for the stroke and green for the fill Windows 11, Designer 2.5.7 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Gianni Becattini Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 AAAAHHHH! I am very stupid! You are right, Carl123... It is sufficient to set them BEFORE using the pen, not after having begun to draw! THANKS! Quote More than 30 Macs, from 1984 Mac 512K Plus to 2020 iMac 27" i9
Gianni Becattini Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 But what is an aftemplate (I can imagine) and how can I create it? Quote More than 30 Macs, from 1984 Mac 512K Plus to 2020 iMac 27" i9

Gianni Becattini Posted December 22, 2024 Author Posted December 22, 2024 Thanks for answering and sorry for delay, I missed your reply that I was waiting. The problem arose again and is driving me crazy - it seems however that templates are not "automatic", I must start a document from it. I cannot understand how I never had this problem before and now every time I create a new docement, by opening a photo, I get FILL to WHITE and LINE to BLACK. Any help welcome Quote More than 30 Macs, from 1984 Mac 512K Plus to 2020 iMac 27" i9
Ron P. Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 If you're not getting the Fill saved, make sure you have the box ticked beside Use Fill in the Context Toolbar for the Pen tool. Like Carl, I'm able to set a default and it's saved. Quote Affinity Photo 2.5..; Affinity Designer 2.5..; Affinity Publisher 2.5..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Gianni Becattini Posted December 24, 2024 Author Posted December 24, 2024 Sorry for delay, I missed your mail. I had that option applied, I removed it. Now I will see if it solves the problem, as I believe. Thanks and wishes for now Quote More than 30 Macs, from 1984 Mac 512K Plus to 2020 iMac 27" i9
