Cannot start my programme

When I try to start Affinity photo 2 I get the image below. I have win 10. I have tried running as administrator with firewall off, I have reinstalled the software. I have also done a clean install of windows ( keeping Apps and files)

. Can anyone help please?

Do you have any Affinity V2 applications running, possibly in the background? You could start Task Manager and look for them.

Did you install using the MSIX version of the installer or the EXE/MSI version? If you have multiple Affinity V2 applications, did you use the same kind of installer for each of them?

If you're used:

  • the MSIX installer, is the %userprofile%\.affinity directory Hidden?
    or
  • the EXE/MSI installer, is the %appdata%\affinity directory Hidden?

By the way - this is completely unacceptable behavior of Affinity applications. If for any reason the communication between other applications does not work, then this can maximally affect the functionality of the Edit in... commands (menu items will remain disabled), or the Personas switching in APublisher will not work. But in no case should the application be blocked or prevented from starting!

P.S. Although this is version V2, the error message says something else - see the title of the message. Even this is not handled properly and correctly 😞

Here is whatI have done. I have uninstalled every version of the Affinity Apps. I then insalled version one of all three apps which opened and worked quite well. I then uninstalled all three verson one apps. I  installed the version 2 Apps using msix. I  tried to open  publisher and got the splash screen seen in post 3. Hope that helps.

The V2 design requires that the applications be able to communicate, because they all share a common set of resources (Assets, Brushes, etc.) and must coordinate any updates to those common files to prevent severe data corruption.

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Reset the TCP/IP stack -> From an administrator command prompt, type: netsh int ip reset

Reboot

Reset the firewall -> From windows secutiry app Firewall & network protection, press "Restore firewalls to default"

Reinstalled everything. I now have it working Thank you Carl.
