Bhikkhu Pesala Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Drag the stroke width slider: Maximum is 100 points and minimum is 0 points¹ Select the point size field and scroll with the mouse.: Maximum is unlimited (OK), but minimum is also unlimited (a bug) ¹ Perhaps the minimum should be a hairline, or whatever the application's minimum line width is, as there is a button for No stroke. Staff Andy Somerfield Posted July 4, 2016 Staff Posted July 4, 2016 Hi, I agree - negative stroke width makes little sense :) Thanks, Andy.

Staff Patrick Connor Posted July 4, 2016 Staff Posted July 4, 2016 Perhaps reserve -1 for indication of hairline, but deserves a button if it is implemented Patrick Connor Serif Europe Ltd Latest V2 releases on each platform Help make our apps better by joining our beta program! MikeW Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Oh, I think a display of -1 for any purpose is a mistake. However, if like other applications the word "Hairline" could be used to indicate the thinnest line the device can render would be nice. Being able to type in a discreet number that is 3 digits past the decimal would also be good. Mike
Dave Harris Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Mike, you can enter very small numbers already. You can change the precision displayed from Preferences > User Interface. The number will generally be stored precisely even if the display rounds it.
MikeW Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Indeed, Dave, I missed that. If the "Hairline" moniker could be added as the smallest unit possible, that would be good. It's a special name/value much like the term "Registration" is for color.
JET_Affinity Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 However, if like other applications the word "Hairline" could be used to indicate the thinnest line the device can render would be nice. I know this beta process is mostly a bug search, but while we're "voting" here, I emphatically agree with that. A proper Hairline stroke width setting is one of many advantages of Illustrator's historic rival, FreeHand. It's also, by the way, one of the many important advantages I'm already noticing of DrawPlus over Affinity Designer. JET
Bhikkhu Pesala Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 A proper hairline as in DrawPlus X8 is better too, in that it's visible at any zoom level. I can enter a line width of 0.001 points in Affinity Designer, but if the line is not selected it is invisible unless I zoom in very close i.e. > 5000% AMD A10-6800K, with Radeon HD Graphics 4100 GHz 8 Gb on Windows 10 64-bit build 17763.316 • My Free OpenType Fonts
