MickRose Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 This is the Capitalisation menu It would be nice if the list gave a more visual guide. Below the Publisher list is the InDesign CS6 menu. The "Toggle Case" would be problematic of course. Publisher menu: InDesign CS6 menu bbrother, Seneca and bures 3 Quote Windows 10 Pro, I5 3.3G PC 16G RAM
MikeTO Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 FWIW the menus don't support small and all caps so uppercase, small caps, and all caps would look identical. I think that would be dependant upon the capabilities of the menu system of the various GUI frameworks that the software uses on different OSes. However, All Caps would probably just look like Uppercase on-screen (e.g. “ALL CAPS”), and Small Caps could possibly be simulated by using different font sizes (e.g. “SMALL CAPS”). P.S. Toggle Case could look like “tOGGLE cASE” to give a reasonable idea of what it does. Quote
MikeTO Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 I don't see an issue with the Typography panel samples - the sample text in the panel is based on what you've typed and the typography category. For categories such as Capitals, it shows the first 5 letters of the selected text or the word at the cursor position, and then truncates them to fit the limited space allocated to samples. It will use '(abcde)' as the sample text if you've selected numbers, punctuation, or symbols. For this reason, I've always found the InDesign menu inelegant. Not that I don't understand the reasons for this request, but I admit being more comfortable with the current way it is in Publisher. Upper case is upper case, however it is written. Paolo Quote
