Selecting specific layers from a Designer document placed in Publisher

Is there a way to select the layers in a Designer document (or a layered PDF) that are visible when placed in a Publisher document?

Yes, it is possible in APub to select specific layers to be shown from a placed ADe document.
For linked/placed documents there is a "Layers:" drop-down in the context menu that will allow you to select the desired specific Layers.

Worth to notice:

  • Placed documents offer also "Page Box" option on the context toolbar to choose how the page displays (e.g., with/without bleed, objects only).
  • A file's embedded colour profile will always be converted to the Affinity document's current working space.

Below is a screenshot of the context menu for linked documents with highlighted "Layers:" drop-down that does exactly what you're asking for.

I am confused because what I am seeing is the list of art boards and not the list of layers.

I would like to use it to show the gradual construction of a single graphic, with boxes and connections appearing gradually, and not separate areas (art boards) of a single document.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your help.

The function works with Layers (capital L, e.g., created via Layer > New Layer in Designer), not other kinds of layers.

😮

I completely ignored this difference.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, this is an extremely common source of confusion! 👎

In the FR version of the app, both have exactly the same name (Calques).

That’s interesting. I wonder why!

It’s only to be expected in the DE version, since nouns in German always have initial capitals, but I’m a little surprised that the FR version has « calques » with an initial capital in both cases.
