nemoDreamer Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I'm encountering a similar issue (in v2) where printing and PDF / SVG exports don't respect the "Balanced Dash Pattern". Quite jarring coming from Adobe InDesign / Illlustrator, where what you see is what you get: the PDF export internally explodes shapes to ensure a 1-to-1 conversion if PDF doesn't support a given vector feature like special dotted strokes w/ corner constraints. I hope the solution in Affinity isn't "Rasterize" or "Expand Stroke": I'd like a PDF with vectors, and an Affinity file I can still sensibly work with, rather than individual bits of lines. đ (Sorry for my tone, I've been trying so many different things...) My settings: My Designer view: My straight-to-printer output / PDF / SVG export: Overlapping curves' lines no longer match up, since they do not respect the dashed settings. Quote
Hangman Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Hi @nemoDreamer and welcome to the forums, This looks like a bug... Balanced strokes up to and including 2.5 pt are being exported as unbalanced strokes Balanced strokes above 2.5 pt are being exported as expanded strokes My understanding is that all balanced strokes should be exported as expanded strokes on export to PDF. nemoDreamer and MEB 1 1 Quote Affinity Designer 2.6.3 | Affinity Photo 2.6.3 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.3 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse
Staff MEB Posted March 14, 2024 Staff Posted March 14, 2024 Hi @nemoDreamer, Welcome to Affinity Forums Thanks for your feedback. This is a known issue that's already logged with dev. I've updated/bumped the report to bring it up to devs attention again. nemoDreamer, deepblue and Hangman 2 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

I was so happy that balanced corners now work but since it does not work as svg I am forced to use our old software. My lines are just 0.3 PT but I have tried different sizes and all above 2.5 PT works just fine. But it works great if exported as PNG for me only SVG is causing problems. However it works if I export as flattened SVG but I need the layers so that is not a option for me. Hope this will be fixed. Quote
