maisondasilva
Using Open with on the second file through the new Windows 11 context menu, another instance of Affinity Designer simply appears in the task manager but it does not open the file, only the first file! .svg file
Ron P.
If you're meaning the Right-Click menu of Windows File Explorer, Open With..., that's the way it's been for a long time. It's the same for Windows 10. It allows single file selection, any more and you just get the Open command. Serif has nothing to do with that, it's a Windows thing. walt.farrell
@maisondasilva: Did you install using the default MSIX installer, or the alternate EXE installer? maisondasilva
MSIX installer and Microsoft Store @walt.farrell @Ron P. See video! (See that I only open the first file (.afdesign) then when I try to open the .svg files they don't open and more instances of Affinity appear in the task manager, this sometimes happens when opening other first files not just the one (.afdesign)) Video - 2024-03-10-[1].mp4

walt.farrell
In any case, I have the MSIX from the Affinity Store installed on Win 11, and I can use Open With from File Explorer as often as I want and it works. Another user (I'm not sure if it was @Ron P. or someone else) posted recently about this, but as I recall no one (Serif or user) ever figured out why that system was handling things incorrectly. Normally it opens without problems, but at some point this happens, I only noticed it in the new version!

Staff DWright Posted March 11 Staff Share Posted March 11 This is strange I have tested your workflow with both the Microsoft store version and our MISX and I have not been able to replicate this behaviour, can you please try right clicking the Designer 2 icon and from the pop up menu select more and App Settings and then in the new window click the Repair option

Can you figure out anything common or consistent or different about the times when it doesn't work? If you can describe a scenario that seems to trigger it, or in which it happens more often, than may help the recreation and diagnosis effort. maisondasilva
I just noticed that this occurs after Affinity Designer 2, even when closed, remains in the background in some cases, if it is finished in the background the problem does not occur! @DWright @walt.farrell Video - 2024-03-11-[1].mp4
