JNAZ Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 I have recently come across some files edited in drawplus. Is there a way to import them into affinity so I can edit them there? Thank you. Quote
Alfred Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @JNAZ. The Affinity apps can't read any of Serif's legacy file formats, so you would need to export to PDF or SVG from DrawPlus. (The common file name with a number in parentheses in your screenshot suggests that those are duplicates, so you may have less conversion work to do than you thought.) JNAZ Posted March 1, 2024 Author Posted March 1, 2024 Thank you. I am the one who labeled them with the numbers in parenthesis. Also, I don't have drawplus so I can't export from that program. Any other suggestions? Quote
Staff MEB Posted March 1, 2024 Staff Posted March 1, 2024 Hi @JNAZ Welcome to Affinity Forums Unless someone do the conversion for you (I do not have DrawPlus) there's no other app able to open the proprietary dpp Drawplus files. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Alfred Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 If you only have a few of these files and you're happy to share them with me, send me a private message and I'll convert them for you. William Overington Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Is it worth trying to open them in Microsoft WordPad, there is a chance that the text part will be stored in plain text and so can be copied out. It may not work, but is it worth a try? William Quote Until December 2022, using a Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 in England. From January 2023, using an HP laptop running Windows 11 in England.
JNAZ Posted March 1, 2024 Author Posted March 1, 2024 Alfred. Depending on the time it takes to convert, it may take a while. I'm not positive, but there may be at least a hundred files. Thank you. Quote

Pšenda Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Just out of interest - the universal registration key for the legacy applications is available in the FAQ. So wouldn't it be possible to provide the installation exe files? JNAZ Posted March 1, 2024 Author Posted March 1, 2024 I would love to see the .exe files for these software programs. Up till a year ago I kept all the disks in a filing cabinet. Thinking I would never need them again, I threw them away. I see now that was a big mistake. Quote
Staff MEB Posted March 1, 2024 Staff Posted March 1, 2024 @Pšenda The universal registration key is, as far as I'm aware, a way to bypass the registration by phone or online for existing customers who may wish to re-activate register the app. If @JNAZ is a Drawplus customer it's quite possible there's a way. @JNAZ Have you tried contact Serif support directly via e-mail? Use of the universal registration key prevents the user being pestered in this way by the installed software, but you need a product key to install it in the first place. If so, I can provide you with copies of the installer files that were freely available for download until Serif closed their CommunityPlus support site.
